Default subwoofer in the spare - tc

i was thinking of taking my spare tire out and making a sub enclosure in its place . has anyone thought of or done this already? i need the trunk space for work but miss the low deep bass of my subz, what are your thoughts?

There is very little depth for the spare tire, its not like the typical car that has a deep tire well, it could be done but depending on the depth of the sub you may need to raise the trunk floor to do it.

There's plenty of room there. I actually put my amp to the right of the spare, take out that little storage thingy and there's a ton of room. Just make sure to reinforce it so the trunk bottom thingy doesn't cave in when you put stuff in the trunk.

A single ten will fit, if it doesn't need a lot of air. I was quoted about $300 to build a custom box for the area to the right of the spare, + sub (alpine type S I think).

go for it !!! Use fiberglass to make your enclosure for the bottom and sides. then when it has cured, pop it out, put a piece of 3/4" MDF on the top of your fiberglass, wrap more glass mat from the enclosure over the wood, slop on some resin/ hardner mix, and your good to go. Use roughly 5-7 layers of fiberglass.
