if you want brighter lights, you either buy new bulbs, such as piaa or sylvannia silverstar etc etc...or you go with HIDs.

bulbs will die quickly, with HID's, they will last over 25,000 hours. i say go HID's, you will love them

HID's, depending on the brand will cost you anywhere from 250 and up, also selling HID's is illegal in the US, so you'd have to find someone to get them for you or go to a website in canada and order them.

bulbs will cost you 15 to 20 bucks but you will have to constantly replace them.

HID's are not illegal, many cars come standard with them...BMW's Lexus...etc...it is not illegal at all, just make sure that you dont get an illegal version, some HID's are only for show and not for driving, other then that you are fine. Dont go with purple lights either, a light blue or white is what u wanna stick with

wrong, factory HID's are legal and the housing is made for HID's which is what helps give it its color. if factory HID's weren't legal they would not be sold with the cars.

aftermarket HID kits are not legal because they do not have a filament in the bulb and the housings are not designed for the HID's.

also what you said contradicts yourself. how can you say HID's are not legal but then say "don't get an illegal version." what you previously said means no HID set is legal.

also, cops are more attracted to blue lights than purple lights. if you noticed, BMW,Lexus, Mercedes and other high end models lights are bright white with a tinge of purple, not blue at all. so if you are gonna go with a color, go with the bright white with a tinge of purple as it looks more luxury. a light blue is more likely to get you pulled over.

HID's are not all illegal. They come in different color tempatures. Anywhere from 4000k - 12000k.
4000 being a whiter color and 12000 being a purple color.
Anything higher than about 8000k (which is a nice blueish white color) is pretty much illegal.
The systems range anywhere from 200 - 700 depending on color tempature.
Shibby do some research b4 giving advice.

ALL AFTERMARKET HIDS are illegal. does not matter what the kelvins is, if it's an aftermarket HID it's illegal.

that is, in the US any aftermarket HID kit is illegal, if you are caught selling it is punishable by up to $5000 a day fine you were selling HIDs along with $5000 per kit sold. i think that was the amount or so, i might be wrong but they are punishing you for every day and every kit you sell.

bmw's n lexus have specially designed retrofitted projectors that work in conjunction with the HIDs so u dont get that nasty "glare" that cars seem 2 get when they put HIDs in a headlight enclosure that wasnt designed for HIDs. if u notice the cutoffs of stock hid's as opposed to aftermarket HIDs, youll see that the cutoff is SO MUCH SHARPER on the stock ones.

aftermarket HID's are illegal because there is no filament and according to the NHTSA, a bulb with no filament cannot be installed if it is not installed by the factory which is why factory HID's are legal. (thanks jose)

I believe you owe me an apology son...

shibby i have no idea where your getting your info from. Check out catz lighting website or phillips, or a handfull of others. Iam sure that if they where illegal you would not be able to purchase them directly fom thier site. You probably have never purchased a set so you would not know. But seriously don't mislead others if you're not sure what you are saying. The same one's that come in BMW's or Infinities, or mercedes, or porsche can all be purchased. Most of the ones dealer use are phillips kits.
