Default tC: questions about remote starter

does anyone know of a remote starter that i can get for my tC. i dont want all the fancy stuff like the 2 way paging ones i just want the remote starter and one without the keyless entry would be preferable because the tC comes with keyless entry

It can be tricky to do since the tC has the starter immobilizer which requires one of the keys be near the sensor for the car to start. Some people have mounted their valet key somewhere in the dash near the ignition switch so the remote start will work. Of course, your starter immobilizer becomes useless when you do that.

I believe any remote starter system will work with the tC. If you don't plan on installing it yourself, call your local shops and see what they can do for you.

This is just my .02 but here goes.

1. You might want to consider hooking up keyless entry as well just because most remote starts already have the option and it doesn't cost anything extra. Plus, you will only need to carry around one remote instead of two. Not sure if the tC is like the xB with priority locks but some manufacturers offer that as a feature as well if that's why you want to use the factory keyless.

2. Some companies have 2 way units that are solely remote start and no alarm. This would be a nice feature so it will tell you when you have remote started your vehicle instead of having to physically look at the car.

3. Last but not least look into an alarm with remote start. Sometimes it isn't that much more and you may not want to hook up the alarm portion now but maybe down the road you will. It's easier to have an all in one unit than trying to integrate one later.

Like I said just my .02.

Check out an autopage RS650 has long range and very good keyless/remote start.

If your going to install one its better to hook up the keyless as well so you can get rid of the scion keyless fobs. That way you only have 1 remote to play with to get into the car.

If your near the Hampton Roads Area hit me up I give scion people discounts on all alarm/remote start/ keyless installs.

Peace James

The keyless entry buttons on the tC are integrated into the key.

you can't get rid of the scion key fob because it has the chipped key integrated with it.

Is there an echo in here?

Personally, I am getting an aftermarket alarm that uses my existing remote (factory key) with no 2-way crap or remote start. The alarm part is all I need, and I certainly don't want a huge lcd remote.

Something thats really cool you can do but I would really need alot of time to research it is to get a aftermarket remote start and hardwire the keyfob of the aftermarket remote into the car.

Then just use the panic button feature on the stock key fob for the TC to activate the remotestart.

As long as the panic feature has a -/+ pulsing source it can be done.

No, not really. I was adding that the key was chipped and getting rid of the whole thing wasn't really an option.
