I'm not an expert on car audio, but I can't stand waiting for people to answer some threads on here that would take 30 seconds, and their car knowledge would be greatly appreciated ((MY JENSEN THREAD lol jk)). I have 1 12" Alpine type-r in my tC and it hits loud. I can't turn my amp up more than 3/4 of the way without the hearing in my right ear going in and out....yea....I have a HUGE Power Acoustik amp though. For $160, it's hard to beat. ((www.millionbuy.com - highly recommended)) - Alpine makes great head units. I have a sony one for sale, but I would highly recommend not picking up a sony head unit, more of a waste than anything. I had two sony 12" P5 subs in my old car, and they were loud, but not crisp or clear. Eclipse, Alpine, Rainbow, MMat, Memphis - all great for subwoofers. Headunits - don't know much about, but Alpine won't disappoint. Door speakers - Polk momo, memphis, infinity. I'm not an expert on the door speakers either. Those are better than anything you would find at circuit city though. Subwoofers are more my area. Hope i could help alittle!

MTX makes great amps, alpine amps are sorta pricey, audiobahn makes nice amps also. I had a sony amp powering my old set of 12"s and it was horrible. Didn't sound very good and it ALWAYS overheated horribly! I would play it for 20 minutes and it would safety cut out from overheating. I bought a Power Acoustik amp because i have a friend that has had his for about 5 months and has absolutely loved it. I bought one of the most powerful amps that Power Acoustik makes for under $200 on millionbuy.com. It sounds great and i haven't had any problems with it yet. I would recommend Power Acoustik if you are on a budget and need something that works great and sounds great....I just hope that it lasts me.

The car audio buffs say kicker panels are the way to go. I'm getting kicker panels with some diamond audio components, an eclipse head unit, and 2 memphis subs in a custom enclosure. All powered by 2 hifonics amps.... but to do it right start with an eclipse deck. They can read all sorts of old scratched discs and have great pre-amp outputs for subs.

ACE: why are you getting High quality head unit, components, and subs but just mediocre amplifiers.....save your money and go all out with high quality.....

I Highly recommend www.edesignaudio.com for all your speakers, amps, and subs......the sound quality of all their products is highly impressive.....

something that is pretty inexpensive but is great stuff is the Lightning Audio. I use it in all my vehicles. If you use it use the storm or strike series since the bolt is the entry level and isnt made for abuse. I abuse the heck out of my stuff. I over power all my stuff by double have the time and never have any issues. You can see the picws of my install in my gallery and there is the storm amp and strike subs.

I like Alpine a lot, but to say that their type-x series is better than anything eD is your opinion, not fact.
