Default TCover installed.!!

well.. went and bought one of those TCover kits.. for those that do not know what it is, here is the link.... tcover.net ... im very impressed with the kit and the support..... the great thing about this kit is that it is non-distructive.. meaning if you ever want to remove the kit, the original parts go back in 100% and the cover works like normal.. the support i received from them was excellent.. OH.. and the kit works GREAT!!!!!!!..

no pic sorry.. no much to see.. their website has a video on how it works.. you can also download their install manual and lok at the install pics they have..... NOW.. on how noisy it is.. the kit has a speed adjustment on the pc board.. i have mine set to the slowest speed and there is no noticable noise... however.. if you set it to the fastest setting.. then yes. you can defenetly hear the servo wine....

if you have ever heard a RC car or plane.. when you move the controls.. that is how it sounds when it is set to the fastest speed...

my girlfreind has a sc430 and their nav system is hidden until you turn the ignition.. then it slowly opens and brings out the display.. that is how i wanted mine so i set mine to slow... the video they have on their site looks to me to be in a fast setting.. which would make a wine...

Cool setup!

Is it ONLY ignition switched, or can you have a manual
bypass?

I remember someone asking because they wanted to hide
the fact they were watching videos in motion with a quick
flip of that cover.

Anybody on Long Island doing installations of these? I saw the kit awhile ago but am too chicken to try the install myself, but VERY interested in the product. Surprised Scion does't have this standard or even an option, it's a great touch.

Looks kinda cool but definitely doesn't look $125 cool. I've got enough wires running places already. I don't need to install a bunch more. I'd think about it for $50.

well.. it took about 3 hours to get it all done.. since i was going slow and measuring everything twice and three times to make sure all drilled holes were perfect.. it really is not too hard to put together.. i had downloaded their instructions about 2 days before my kit arrived and read them over and over again just to make sure i was familiar with what i needed to do..

well.. at first i thought it alittle on the expensive side... the small mechanical parts used may only add up to $25-$35.. but that PC board and firmware is where i see the cost.... overall.. after installing it.. i personally feel the cost was worth it....

I agree with you - I don't think $125 is too much to ask for a custom part with the necesary bits to do the things it does. It sounds completely reasonable as these things go. What I'm objecting to is paying $125 for something that opens a little hatch - I know it's not easy to do, but I don't need it to do that for $125. I think I'd be more interested if the door was metal and more rigid and permanent looking. As is, I think I'll just stick with what I've got.

I have a few questions. Does it make the screen door extremely stiff (as in it can't be moved easily with your hands)? I ask that because my stereo cover rattles so I'm this would fix it. Also, would it matter that my head unit is mounted farther back than a stock stereo?

it is stiff.. they do not recommend you try opening it with your hand after installing the kit... BUT it could probably be opened by hand carefully if you needed to...

if the door works with your present head unit.. i do not see any reason why it would not work ...

i will add one thing.. about the hardest part about the entire install was plugging in the 2 connectors to the board when your mounting the dash panel back on.. it is just alittle ackward and tight..

It's for sure a nice little feature that I wish I could have. But I'm not willing to pay $125 for that feature. I would rather have something more beneficial like a short throw for the same price.

^^^hehehe.

although it is a neat thing,

1) I dont trust myself to do it right, though I probably could.
2) I could not justify the price to my penny pinching interior.
