Default temp control lights and leds?

hello all! I just picked up 10 12v hyper blue leds (verad) i was wondering if id be able to replace the white mini bulbs behind my temp/fan controls with the leds? any idea what the voltage is on those mini bulbs? also any sugestions on where to put the rest? I am putting 1 on each vent, 1 in the ash tray (why is there no light in there now!!! how are you suposed to find it in the dark!lol) and the two in the climate controls. I have three left where should they go? Im sorry by the way this is an xb. Thanks for the help!

I have LEDS running where my stock mini bulbs were. This is what I did. I basically broke the bulbs and just cut them out of the grey holder. Then all you have to do is take a 3mm LED (5mm LED will not fit properly in the holder). Once you insert the leads through the holder holes go ahead and wrap the NEGATIVE lead the same way the stock minibulb lead was wrapped around the base (take a good look at one of the mini lamps and you'll see what I am talking about. Now that you have the negative lead securly in place, go ahead and solder a resistor to the POSITIVE side. A 300ohm 1/4 Watt resistor will do the trick. Once you got that guy soldered in there then tape up the resistor so it won't short out and simply wrap the remaining lead around the base just like you did with the negative lead.

That's it. Go ahead and install the base and fire it up.

If it doesn't come light up then take the bulb out and rotate it 180 degrees. Remember, the LED has a polarity you have to deal with.

Also, you may want to file down the curvature of the LED to dissipate the light sideways. Having all of the LED's light straight-on will not look right in this application.

Got any questions on any of the wiring? Msg me I will help. you out

well i got the leds in the temp controls and wired so they come on when the parking/interior lights come on! I also put one in the ash tray! you deff need to flatten the top of the leds to spread the light! if you dont you will get bright spots and dim areas big time. instead of using the contacts on the white board i tapped directly to the wires and gooped the leds. when I get my vents and cup holders done Ill post some pics. Thanks for all the help and posts!
