Default is there an easy way to do an LED bar in the footwells?

i've done the led cupholder trick. i was wondering if there was a comparable way to do the led light bars that are often seen with the cupholders (referencing the scion accessory catalog). I've seen these bars are car toys for 8 bucks a pop, and I was wondering if anyone has found a "plug" that will allow for easy install.

i've tried searching for this topic but couldn't find anything.

1 - Skip the LED bars....you can get 2 12" cathodes for $6.49 through oznium. You only need 1 tube per side of the dash.

2 - No plug, but the next best thing is called a add-a-line (or maybe it was tap-a-line). Plugs right into an empty slot in the fuse box...no need to cut any factory wires or run a line through the firewall. You can play around with the fuse position to have the lights come on, say, when you put on the headlights.

what's the major difference between led and cathode?

I think the LED bar isn't just a strip of four of 5 leds, I think it is an elongated LED. ____, maybe we are talking about the same thing.

Do you have any suggestions on gracefully getting a wire from the left footwell to the right footwell?

Cathodes about 10 times as bright as the leds i have seen.

Hide all the wires under the dash using cable ties if you need to. Pop off the center kickpanel to hide any other wires.

On the XA, I just installed 2 led light bars, 1 per footwell. (Red , of course) I tapped into the red accesory box light, the box under the H.U. w/ the oven door, by taking off the glovebox. This allowed access to the power wires for the light behind the box. The top one is red and the bottom blue. The blue wire is power. I used one inline tap (about 50 cents at Radio Shack or your local stereo install shop) to tap in both power leads from the light bars to the blue wire mentioned above. Then screwed both negative leads from the LED light bars to ground. I used the left screw at the bottom of the heater box. (Behind the glove box)I then wrapped everything up w/ zip ties. The LED light bars make a nice, cozy, red glow.

I always install cathodes in the kickpanels. They look very nice! The trick is to install it so you can't see the bar, but it still illuminates the floor.

I just put LED's in the bottom lip of the dash, sourced the power from the Easy Bake and ran the wires along existing wires. 2 per footwell and it's just bright enuff for entry and exit. And less than $2 to do.
