Default Thoughts on this GPS unit (Garmin i3)?

Anybody have any experience w/ the garmin i3 or i5 GPS units?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...075141?ie=UTF8

At under $300 shipped, these almost seem like a no-brainer...

Default GARMIN i3.....128Meg memory = no preload of city maps

In electronics the pricing seems linked to memory and screen size.

In this case the memory is way small...and means no pre-load of city maps like in many other GARMIN products. The Pre-Load is worth it.

Nuvi or 2600 series.

Otherwise wait.

I would avoid the i3 and the i5... the antennae in those things are small and weak, but they are budget level navigation systems. Had the i3... took a long ___ time to lock onto a satellite, even in non-congested areas and clear skies. And once you're in the city, forget about it.

Sold mine on eBay and got a top of the line Garmin Nuvi 350... but it ain't cheap. If you're considering the i3, pay 100.00 more and get the C330... bigger screen, brighter colors, touch screen and better performance.

It depends on where you live and what you want it for. If it is for local use and not for traveling overseas, it should work fine. I personally have a TomTom, but I shopped every one on the market. The bonus for this one is that you can use AA batteries, which is nice if you want to take it with you when you are on a bike or walking ect...More advanced units have bluetooth for your phone if it is a model that is supported, traffic, preloaded maps, ect. I have all that and I dont use anyone of those features and I spent $850!!!!
