Default ultimate under seat sub boxes (pics)

Hey all,

So I been working on this:

Those are 8" audiobahns that fire backwards (and up just a little ).

The glue is drying right now and I'm going to paint them later.

Nice design work. The only thing I would do is throw a grill on it to keep the back seat passengers from accidentally putting a foot through it.

Thanks. It is.. took all day to do the one side. I had to squeeze ever cubic inch out of the space to get the .75'^3 I was after.

3/4" MDF. About $22 for a 4x8 sheet from Lowes. It wieghs about 32oz a pound though. That box is 26 lbs!

very nicely done.. I am in the process of designing mine and to get the most cubic calls for a box designers nightmare.

I used 1 2x4 sheet of 3/4 for my underseat box and it cost 6 bucks at Home Depot.

Not a bad box, but it isnt stealth enough for me at all. Kinda kills the point of having it under the seat unless your intention is to show it off...

I've never seen an 8 that required so much space.

I have a single 8 inch JL audio W3V2 that requires like half of that space...And it sounded amazing. I'm actually selling it too!

Nicely done. I would have a grille covering the woofer as I have some small children who ride in the back.

now make it to fit a 10 and bam you could make bank. .75 airspace would be gr8 with some poly. just extend that front/back piece and itd be awesome.

Nice work. I too, would worry about the chance of feet kicking the speaker, grill or no grill, but still. Nice work.

Yeah, I was shocked when I read up on it. I was thinking "I coulda had a ten", but in the "space saver" layout it takes .75 cubic inches!

Actually, I painted the box black and if it wasn't for the chrome ring around the woofer you wouldn't be able to see it (due to the tinted windows). But, I wasn't really going for stealth or show.. just didn't want to eat up the space in the rear, but wanted it to sound good too.

ooohh, I forgot to put the poly in. I've never done a ported box before.. do they need poly fill?

So, it's all in there and painted. Figure I'll listen to it for a couple weeks before I decide on carpeting it. Also, I think I'll run my amp mono bridged into it for that time too. SO, I can decide if I need another one for the drivers side. If not, I'll have a 8" sub for sale and I'll build ya a box !! ;-) Hooking it up tonight.

i always thought you used polyfill if you originally didn't have enough airspace- thought it kinda fools the sub into thinking it's in a bigger box...so doubt it would be neccessary if the sub is supposed to have .75 cuft

After looking at your pics, I decided i'll have to redo my boxes. Don't really have enough airspace for the 10's as they are and they are just basic rectangular boxes. Didn't even think of going nearly as far as you did, but it would solve problems, and after some carpet...maybe I would have to fire them downward..??? you wouldn't wanna send the dimensions over my way...would you? :D

Regardless, the best use of space I've seen. Would also prevent theft as you would have to remove the seat to get the box out(and my best seat removal time has been about 3 minutes)
