Upgraded HU, component speaker distortion :(
I upgraded my HU to a Kenwood KDC-X679 and my music sounds pretty good but when I put the volume really high, I hear distortion and I want to know why it's causing that. Is it because the HU is giving out too much power (22 watts x 4 (i'm assuming this is RMS), 50 watts total x 4) or are the ohms different?
Also, if I wanted to power new front/rear speakers with another aftermarket setup (already have an amp and sub), would the eD 6000s (100 watt RMS) and JL audio 300/4 (75 watt RMS per channel) be a good combo?
I used the metra dash kit/wiring harness and it looks very nice, I'll post pics when I get home.

Unlikely that you're pushing too much power through there. My aftermarket HU pushes about that much and everything's fine for me. I'd try messing with the sound settings on the HU. Make sure you don't have any of the "loud" (gain) settings all the way up. That can cause distortion at high levels. Is it a frequency range that's causing the distortion? Try lowering that range (hi, mid, low) on your eq.
The stock speakers should hold up alright. I don't know if Kenwood's fidelity is at fault here, but my Pioneer unit does just fine.
