While they're at it, please build in TIVO-like capabilities to replay and time-shift, add in Sirius and we're set.

I have to stick with George on this, one.
I have been in search of the ultimate in "in-car" audio ever since i first had a car.
Memory sticks or flash media are just that.
We only have to wait till all manufacturers get the hint that USB-enabled is smart (just like they did with MP3-enabled)

USB drives are nice for several reasons:
Hard drives are not ideal in a car because,

Yes, the mechanical hard drives are not the best answer. I know there are units out that have hard drives in them, but I think they are solid state. Solid state hard drives solve the mobility issue, but will raise the price (at least for now).
It was only a matter of time ladies and gentlemen...

One thing to keep in mind
Hard Drive + Bumps + Time = Dead Drive
At least it did when I did the Computer in the car to play MP3s back in '01.
[Technobable]
Besides, I want a 100 gig Flash Based, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, AVI, WMV, MVK, MP4, h.264, xivd, divx, 3vix capable player, with a screen, that can auto sync with my Media server over VPN. For CHEAP! Or I could always just put my Hacked Xbox in my car...

You guys wanna hear something sick?
A friend of mine has a wireless network at home. My friend works from about 4am to 2pm or some crazy hours like that.
SO many times, he's in his car and he wants music that he downloaded to listen to... His solution?
He installed a carputer with a wireless network card. at about 3:30am, as he is warming up his car, he connects to his home PC via the wireless network. He then copies his music (can be videos, whatever), etc all over onto his carputer and listens to the newly downloaded songs on his way to work!!!
The other cool thing - he has the xenarc 7" touch screen and he's running windows xp. Windows xp has a built in on-screen keyboard that he uses to input commands and stuff. so he doesn't have a keyboard or mouse laying around in the car!
