Using outputs on HU to power a "powered sub"...
I'm looking at a new audio set up by replacing the HU and adding a powered sub. A few HU's I've seen claim that they can power an amplifier (w/ 12 V) right from the HU. Has anybody done this? I understand that your low end sound can suffer if you're trying to squeeze too much current out of the HU. I don't mind running a direct tap to the battery, but if the HU can sufficiently power it, the wiring would be a lot easier.

Always run a direct tap from the battery.
Subs need some high current. I can't imagine any HU being
able to power a sub amp directly.
Maybe you are thinking of "power on" a sub amp?
That's the blue "remote" wire on the HU that can be used
for raising a power antenna or telling amps and other gear
to "power up" with the HU.

Lonely Raven,
Your right...I mis read the spec and upon reading the wiring diagram, I saw that they were switch connections, not power.
If you happen to know, is a 4V preout (from a pioneer HU) sufficient to feed the signal to an amplifier? I didn't want to tap the rear speaker leads because I want independent wiring for the sub, just a personal preference. This would allow me to leave my factory wiring alone, correct?
Thanks, I'm kinda new to the whole amp/sub thing, never got into it with my last car.
