Default volts 4 cam.

I just got this camera for my car, but I notice that the volts for the camera are 9volts. The car is 12volts, how can I drop the volts down so that I don’t burn the camera?
Oh yeah I didn’t want to install the cigarette lighter…………

?
is the cigarette lighter plug for the camera?
if it is, you can just use that wiring and hot wire it to the battery
make sure it is fused.

For the camera I can use a 9volt batter or I can use the wall plug.

Just a suggestion....
This is how i hooked up my camera via a switch to the 12V line

I used Ohm's law with a voltage divider to figure out the way to drop the Voltage

I have a 4V Cam that uses 80mA current

I know the input Voltage = 12V
I want an output = 4V
My Cam is an effective load (resistor) of 50 Ohms

    By putting another resistor inline before the Cam i can cut the Voltage down

    using voltage divider equation

      I just soldered the 100 Ohm resistor inline, wrapped it with electrical tape and connected it to the 12V line. Cake :-p

      If this were digital micro electronics, or an amp where the difference was 45A or 150A i would be more concerned. But in analogue electronics, all devices are set up for a lil' over voltage capacity. To be safe 190-200 Ohm resistor could prevent any over-voltage, but i havent had any trouble with my Cam so far
