What All Do I Need 4 A Sub System?
I couldnt really find an answer in the search but basically what do i need? Right now I have a Alpine 12" Sub, and a custom box my brother made. I know I need a power wire to run from the battery to the sub, a ground, and a switch to turn the amp on and off. I was looking at amps today but i cant figure out which one to go with. I was thinking about 300 watts since its only one sub. All you system experts give me the scoop on what I need!
Oh also how to I connect the sub to the stock radio? Last time I remember there wasnt no outputs in the back...i think...
Also if someone has a Tech on this it would be awsome!

hey bro, check out www.crutchfield.com, they can hook ya up with everything ya need, good luck, and put some $$ in for dynamat, it'll help the sound & you'll be happy you used it
#1. What kinda of Alpine 12" is it? Type-E,S,R,or X?
#2. you are correct there is no sub preout on the stock HU's. You will need to buy a RCA plug adaptor and splice into the rear speakers. This can be bought at any audioshop. As a recommendation, please go and support your local stereo installer. Not Best Buy or Circuit City. I did the same thing you are going to do and when I got a new HU the installer told me what a hack job BB did on my wires.
#3. If you are just trying to add a little more bass, skip the Dynomat and anything else. It's time consuming. Not hard just a PITA.
#4. Wiring digrams have been posted several times on the site for the HU's. Where they are I will leave you to do a search. In the end it's probably fast to have the local shop do it.
If you don't know what kind of alpine sub it is, it's usually written on the dustcap of the sub. Type R's are usually written red and type s's are usually written in blue. E's and X's I believe were written in white. They should be marked. Good luck. Let me know if you have any other questions. I've since upgraded my system several times. If you look at my profile you can see my set up now.

I think I paid $200, I got some other stuff with it. I could be wrong but they will charge some stupid amount of money. Try going to http://www.icixsound.com those guys know what is up. There is a guy there named "notacop" he might know.
