here comes an ignorant question...how can i check ??

i mean do i have to go somewhere or is there some kind of device i can use, and when u say what's the highest u hit, is that with the volume all the way up??

I know nothing about measuring sound even tho i have had a system for years...

Thanks for info if anyone wants to help educate..

a reputable local car audio shop should have a termlab or audiocontrol mic setup...or maybe a generic SPL meter....most charge minimum fee's, like 10-30$ for x amount of time for to meter your car and tune your system for peak spl if needed.

mine hitz hard with the stock head unit.. i want to get a pioneer head unit preferably a premier one..

but mine hits hard on certain notes..
i have a alpine mrd-m1000 mono amp and two 12's..they are rockford fosgate.. i dont remember if the are hx2 or he2 somethings..

but where do you test it?

and scion tc guy.. i figured out why mine were not hititng hard last time i saw you.. thats because i had the SSP button on hear.. when i changed it to feel.. that made a hella of difference.

i hit what i think somewhere in the 126 region last weekend. But the meter we used only went to 126 so who knows what i could hit. My setup is with 2 audiobahn Qflame 12's with a memphis 1100d amp with stock headunit.

Okay, maybe I'm setting myself up to get flamed, but can you guys explain what the purpose of these contests are? Granted I'm an SQ guy with a 40x2 McIntosh and Dynaudio components, but I just don't see why someone would want to post a super-high SPL. What does it prove? Is it somehow a measure of your ability to tune a system or is it just "hey, I spent too much money on watts...loook what my system can do?" I'm asking honestly because I really don't know the answer.

If anything, I'd like to have my SPL measured so I know what a safe listening level in my car is. I think I already have very minor tinitus as it is.

Some people just buy things...throw them in teh car and say...LOOK AT ME!!!

Others try things....try to get loud off as little as possible. The winner of extreme 1-2 a couple years ago was a single 10...pulling down 170+ dB....that's SILLY.

honestly to me i would prob have say ummm 4 15's and that would last about say ummmm a month or so just to have it. I dont think i could really stand to have 4 of em for that long. So hey im going to do it just to do it to say i did it. SQ is just fine i mean that is just as good as SPL to me it costs just as much to do that. So when it comes to SPL and me im going to do it for the fun of it. and then maybe pawn them off to say ummmmmm Obone. And yes Obone they will match yours that you have now. Maybe we can fit say my 4 and your 2. That would make a killer system.
