I was just wondering if MA Audio, Orion and Phoenix Gold were junk or good subs, I am looking for 2 12's for SQ for a few hundred dollars.

Go with JL Audio, they may not be the loudest, but you don't really need that in a hatchback anyway, but they will deffinitly sound better than anything else. I run two 10"s and a JL 500w amp, sounds sooooo good, and they are in a trunk, not a hatch...

 

Get an ID sub, they're the best I've ever heard.

 

if you're going for SQ, regardless of any type of budget, get 2 IDQs from cardomain.com.

 

Phoenix Gold make good cables..i would probably stay away from their subs.

SQ is one of the hardest thing do set a standard for. Everyone has a different Idea of what sounds good. I really is up to you. Two 12" inch in a sealed box is going to give you the best shot at an SQ system. We have a woofer that sounds really nice in the $150ish each price range the MC124 or MC124D. If cost is no object we have a woofer that run about $1,100. dollars. I not saying that anyone has to spend that kind of money. We have woofer for many different price ranges. If you get a chance to listen to the MC woofer you won't be disappointed. Good luck and remeber to have fun and ejoy no matter what you buy.

best thing to do in this situation is to listen to as many woofers as you can before making any decisions....based YOUR opinion on what YOU like!!...

some good options are: JL, Elemental Design, Image Dynamics, Adire...there are others...just listen up..

yeah....but everyone does it.....just means that the warranty probably won't be acknowledged if it breaks....but it's cheaper!!

 

as far as sq, in a sealed box, and go wit the focal's, i dont really care for sealed boxes, but it sounds really good in a sealed box, and from what ive heard they are excelent subs.
they are expensive, but u get what you pay for

 

but how often do you take your subs in? hardly, unless they are abused or installed incorrectly. i dont really care for warranty for subs because i change them so often and have never had a problem sub before.

 

There are lots of different subs out there that are not "mainstream" but are very nice! Resonant Engineering, Soundsplinter, Elemental designs, Adire, Acendant Audio, Image dynamics, etc...
