That was w/ the uber retarded 10 Cubic Ft. 18" box I shoved in the tC once...

Not my daily driver by any means...considering it went from the back of the tC 1/2 way through the passenger seat ;)

That wasn't me, I was just saying what the score was.

That was Terry Brocks in a CRX w/ 2 DD 9910's I think.

I'm hitting 143DB with a pair of 10" and 150watts.

But that's with a Rat Shack digital meter. I'm not sure how
accurate that is, but I know I build some wicked woofers.

mandos, what's an acceptable way for me to measure this
myself so I know how well I'm doing?

I'm seriously considering entering SPL contests next year
with this sub box design I'm developing. Maybe I could get
eD to sponsor me once I've proven my design.

you make your own subs? what sort of box are you using? the most accurate way of checking spl is using a term lab mic, most good audio shops have them or the audio control mic but it is usually of a db or two.

I have made my own subs before. The one that's running in a variable bandpass
enclosure in my box right now is a 15" motor that I've assembled on a 10" basket.
It has something like 16mm of throw, which was not something you saw every day
when I built it 10 years ago. It still keeps up with many subs today.

But the subs I have in my enclosure right now are a pair of JL Audio that my dad got
for me for christmass, but in a dual folded horn/band pass design I'm working on.

Unfortunatly I don't have the money for a real db setup, so I'd be looking for something
inexpensive to give me at least a ballpark idea of how much pressure I'm dealing with.

I got off me **** and put my dual folded horn in the xB and
played some satallite radio with the Radio Shack digital meter
in hand.

I found out the hard way that I'm not as tolerant to loud bass
as I used to be, and also that this Rat Shack Meter buries the
needle 122.

So I honestly have no idea where I stand.

Anyone know of a good home method for measuring?
I googled some, and all the laptop measurement utilities I
found were $1000+

I'm not THAT serious about this! LOL

I just got one from splmeter.com that reads up to 150bd's for $150. Before it came in I went to a shop and had mine put on a meter there and 2 days later mine came in then I tryed it to see if both was about the same and it was real close maybe .5 bd's off but thats not bad for $150
