Lookin for everyones opinions on a double din navigation units out right now...I have a AvicN1 right now in the xB but I sold the car and am getting a tC now and dont know if I should get the Kenwood, Eclipse or the D1...I really dont want the D1 cause lack of the DVD player and I heard the Eclipse one sends you to the wrong addresses sometimes. I have never owned a Kenwood deck so Im not too familiar w/ them but heard its good. Lemme know of peoples personal experiences, and best prices/places to purchase the units...I have a price on the Eclipse unit installed from the guy who does all my electronic installs at the dealership, but dont know about the others.
I just literally got done putting in the d1. I love the damn thing. The navigation is great so far and the sound quality this thing is producing is amazing. If you decide to get it and need any help let me know.

Ahh, that is nice, but useless if the gauges already exist. I'd think it could have some cool stuff like the g-tech.
I may still settle for Eclipse in the tC. I like that for abotu the same prices, DVD can be had also. I may check with my local installer to see what deals I can swing.

First find out what you want. You want double-din HU that has navi and DVD playing capabilities. Since the D1 doesn't meet your need, why consider it? I have a mostly Kenwood setup so I would go with Kenwood, but I heard Eclipse has compatible plugs to the stock connectors so all you have to do is use the existing connection and install it into the bracket. If they both offer the same features, go with w/e's cheaper.
Also ask this question: How much is sound quality going to matter to you? Are you going to have any interest in a 5.1 surround setup in the future? That sort of thing. I sold my Eclipse NAV unit and switched to a Kenwood DDX8017 because I've started buy DualDiscs and I like what I hear in 5.1 and hate to be limited to just using it in my home theater system.
Why don't you install a CarPC. it will have everything, DVD/CD, XM, full navigation with voice command control, hold thousands of songs and movies, FM, backup camera, and alot of other stuff for the same price or less then the AVIC. You can plug in a playstation too, plus you can add ODBII graphical interface and its all touchscreen. Its alot cheaper, and you never have to buy the newer unit next year, only upgrade your software or hardware. iNav 2.1.1 has more then any off the shelf navigation and you don't need to use a DVD, you can load the entire country plus canada. A 7" screen fits in the xA, xB, and tC perfectly, but you could get an 8" in there as well. You don't need a head unit, but you only need a $180 head unit with aux input if you want.
These are the only in-dash navigation unit that does not require a hideaway box.
Pioneer Avic D1-
The LCD Panel has 336,960 pixels (1440 x 234).
Contains 11 million points of interest (POI) on two DVDs.
Built-in amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels)
Eclipse AVN 5435/5495-
The LCD panel has 280,800 pixels (400 x 240 x 3)
Contains some 5.62 million POI (DVD/Harddrive based).
Built-in amplifier (15 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels, CEA-2006 compliant)
I picked the D1 after looking at the specs and playing with each unit at the store... its always good to compare.

with the D1 you can run the Vechile Dynamic box and a ps2 and still pay less then you would for the Kenwood ddx7017 and Navi box... I have no expierence with the eclipse unit, however between the D1 and the 7017 I am split.. If you want movies get the kenwood, if it is navi get the D1...
