Default Who knows the current status on Projectors....

I'm very interested in projectors. There are a couple threads about it, but nothing with legit answers.

I know people are importing the JDM ones, but with those you have to re-wire and do some mods to it, and more importantly they are not DOT approved.

Are any companys in the process of making them for our US cars that will be DOT legal?

I've heard TYC makes decent lights, but I have never seen them in person. I'm sure with the power of this board if we bugged them enough they would see its worth it to make them. What are your thoughts on this.

i don't actulley know of anyone using jdm projectors here in the states...

here's why:

the headlighs are angled differently! - in the US headlight pattern is higher on the passanger side and lower on the drivers side (so you don't blind oncoming traffic)

the JDM ones are just the oppisite - and all the projectors i've seen are not adjustable - so there's no way you could put them on a US car and not be 1. totally illegal, and 2. have a headlight pattern that would be awful to drive with.

if anyone has real jdm projectors that you can adjust the beam height/pattern on i'd be very interested in seeing them

i've seem some nice projectors on some of the TSW cars tho, i think shopajoe has a set, as well as the bbist car

besk one, you are a genius. I have the jdm ones and they are non adjustable and the beam pattern is exactly as you said, high for drivers and low for passenger. I was wondering why it was crooked.

ya it's because they drive on the other side of the road, so in japan the beam pattern is still low drivers high passenger

i stand corrected shopajoe has a set of jdm's, i thought they might be us spec, i guess i was wrong!
