Default Why doesn't stock CD player display track titles?

Let me qualify this question... I know that the stock CD player will display the album, track title, and artist text if you play an MP3 disc, but for some reason I haven't had it display this information for any normal music CDs.

I've tried CDs that I bought a few years ago as well as those I bought just last week. Has anyone else noticed this?

Any ideas?

It must have something to do with CD coding.

My wife said it displayed the title for her Wil Smith album, but nothing else we've tried comes up.

I've noticed it too. I tried a relatively recent one by Peter Gabriel too (he usually tries to put the latest tech. advances into his CD's) and it didn't work. Too bad - would be a nice feature if more CDs used it.

not all "legit" cds have cd text (why not? no clue..). I usually dupe my legits for the car (or put them on an mp3 cd) adding cd text. Also, I wish our stock stereo had that radio info like the GM/Daimler Chrysler stock stereos have...you know, the stereos that show what song is playing on the radio (up to the radio station to support it)...

Why do you have to put the radio at like 47 to have a decent listening volume.
