will this soundsystem work?
hey everybody,
so here's my project...
I want to put my two 1,000 watt Yamaha passive PA speakers in my trunk and have them connected to the car's audio system.
So my plan...
-Put in an amp under the passenger's seat
-connect the PA speakers to the amp's RCA output with this patch cable
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...ble?sku=330489
-now because the speakers are passive, they don't need an external power source, they can play without a power cable directly running through them
heres a diagram i drew.. lemme know if this will work
and soon! cause im lookin to buy the stuff shortly

because then i don't have to go out and buy new car speakers
not to mention that if i ever need them for some random reason, i have them in the trunk of my car
they sound great and use no external electricty
and lastly, they look badass

not to call you young and dumb, we just have alot of that around here and due to the content of this thread, I wouldnt be surprised if that is the direction this thread went...

I just don't think it will sound very good... PA speakers aren't designed to operate in such an enclosed environment. By the time you turned them down low enough for them to not be painful to listen to, you're not going to be giving them enough power and it's not gonna sound right.
a few Q's
#1 what amp are U planning?
#2 factory H/U ?
I ask Because factory other than 08 HU has only High LVL output and second I have never seen a car amp With power out as RCA the RCA's are normally lo LVL input NOT output, the output usually are Banana or wire under the screw type
+ the tonal range on most PA speeker's are not that wide +
if it is 8 Ohm and most auto amps want 2 - 6 ohm max that could cause low power output from amp plus premiture failure of amp
