This is a fm transmitter. I have a friend that is currently using it. I haven't heard any complaints from him so the device is good.

using a fm transmitter you will need it to be pretty close to the antenna. And sometime you do lose reception even though you are using a unused frequency

i've had an iTrip for a year (or so), and had varying sucess with it - in town its is ok, as long as you can find a station that is far enough from other stations. i also like to get the best stereo seperation, so i limit my choices there too. My bigger problem is on solo road trips - changing the frequency because of intruding stations can be a hassle (find a good station, reset the iTrip, repeat...)

in my old car, i had actually gone back to using a tape adapter, as it was easier. plus, i have a 2g iPod, so charging and using the iTrip was a little akward. the iTrip hasn't made it into my xB yet - i got the 6 disc and xm, not as much need to bring my iPod along too

as alwalys, YMMV...

yeah unfortunately fm transmitters do not work so well in the xb. :? since the antenae is in the back two windows between the "c" and "d " pillars you need put the ipod back there for it to work consistantly.

i hoping (big fat Hope) that when alpine introduces ipod integrated functionality later this year for their head units that pioneer might follow suit and either build ipod functionality into their decks or perhaps provide an interconnect that would would work thru the satelite radio antenae port. Maybee the third party could cough something out too. again these are just big time hopes. regardless ipod functionality will cause me to buy alpine later this year for my wrx. but a nice white ipod conection cable in the xb would be swell.

I have it and it is ok. Doesn't sound like ipod music, just sounds like a decent radio station. Just burn the mp3s onto mp3 cds and it will be just like the ipod only sound way better through the stereo.

I have the iTrip and the Belkin FM Transmitter. Neither one work correctly to enjoy the sounds coming from the iPod. Its either way to static filled, or way too low and full of static. I think one day i tried all the stations and nothing was clear. I wish i could get rid of these 2 items.

the stock cd player sucks on my car for some reason. the cd player doesn't read scratch cds very well. the cds will give off a crackling sound that fades in and out. do any of you have this problem too?

You can get direct audio input and control tracks with charging with the Aux-Pod from Pac Audio.

PIE RCA aux in works for 05 headunits

you can order if from logjam ($70)

if you have 1st or 2nd gen ipod, there is no way to control it thru any
headunit, so go cheap!

In the latest issue of Ready Made (issue no. 13) they have step by step instructions for an easy mp3 to car stereo set up.

The issue also has a lot of other cool things you can do with an mp3 player.

Edited to add: If you follow the magazine's plans, then it will only cost you $15,
