Xb 4" tweeter not possible??
Ok mates, I just got my CDT 3-way component system and I am testing the fitment. I have a problem with the 4" tweeter in the dash. There have been numerous posts saying that is the size speaker to use in there but after trying it out I don't see how it's possible to install the speaker using the stock grill. Sure maybe the 4" woofer that came with the cdt's is a little too big and others are not. So I ask you this. What 4" woofers fit in there with the stock grill? Do you know of a way to make them fit with the stock grill? Can I hear some 3-way comonent install stories and how they sound? Scion Lifers' RULE!! help out your BroMan
Nick, hey brother how its? you might have to trim the plastic behind the speaker, to get to fit, I have installed 4" co-axail in tha that same spot. it raise the sound stage , but it doesn't widen it. Bill
I have the CDT 2 way sound stage system I put the woofer in the door and the tweeter next to it but you have to be care full because the plastic on the door panel fits exact so when my door closes there's probally about .25 inch between the tweeter and the dash. Also I have some Xsite audio 3.5 in the dash. I find that you neede to make a bracket or extend the mounts on the 3.5 inch speakers so they can be screwed down, I just took a scrap piece of plexi-glass and cut little squares out and screwed the speaker to the plexi and the plexi to the dash sounds great and the plexi is not noticable with the grills on .
Nope there is no way to get the cdt 4inch in without cuting the speakers. I didn't want to do it but I really had my heart set on these. The other way I was considering installing them was to make a insert where the stock grill is, mount the speaker in that with the cdt grills and wrap it in the carbon fiber vinyl.
Heh, yes, same with the back. When u take out the stockers, yer best bet is to use the stockers as mounts for your new speakers, IE bust em up gut the plastic shell and use that as a mounting bracket. No pics sorry  also depending on how big an enclosure your going to use, relocating the rear speakers is almost a given.
