Default The xB is great for drive-in movies!

went to the drive ins last night and i have to say that our cars are the greatest for this activity because... if you take off the headrests on the front seats and slide the seat all the way forward, you can recline the front seat backrest flat so its flush with the bottom of the back seat. then sit on the back seat, strech out your legs, relax and enjoy the show... best way to see a movie... now i just need a popcorn maker installed

We used to do the same thing with a RAV4. Best way to watch a movie!

The MERCHANT OF DOOM (Walmart) took over on the last great drive-in of Southern California, "Highway 39", about 6 years ago

Haven't seen a drive in for probably 20 years . I wish they would come back. I think they could do well again especially with the sound coming over your own stereo speakers instead of speaker boxes.

Damn, a drive-in woulda been great for a Scion meet. Too bad... I guess with all the DVD players out there, getting everyone to agree on one movie would be too sociable.

I don't know how updated this is but apparently some drive-in theatres still exist?

http://www.driveinmovie.com/mainmenu.htm

It lists the Simi one as gone, and the Westminster (Highway 39) one as gone as well.

I went there a few times. When my son was born the drive-in was the best way to catch a new movie.

To all the SOCAL people.

City of Industry (Los Angeles County) California
Vineland Drive-in: 626-961-9262
located at 443 North Vineland Avenue
(¼ mile west of East Temple Avenue)

Classic Drive-in that was expanded to 4 screens,
with an overall capacity for over 1500 cars, which
still draws fantastic crowds on most weekends.
Open year-round, with 4 sets of double features,
and audio provided by FM stereo radio broadcast.
Admission: $5.50 per person; ages 11&under free.

This drive in is still in active operation--I've been there TWICE in the last year alone--it is great!

Thanks JDMxB,

I was beginning to think they took out all of our Drive-Ins in So-Cal. I know they took the ones in the Valley (San Fernando). This would be a cool Scion meet.

I was thinking the same.. possibly another meet later in the Summer

Auburn (King County) Washington
Valley 6 Drive-in: 253-854-1250
located at 401 49th Street / Auburn Ave.
Washington's largest Drive-in movie theatre
(with six screens and parking for up to 3,000
cars spread-out across more than a couple
dozen acres), is perched right on the edge
of oblivion .. tho for now, the PictureShow
goes on, images of 2,600 housing units and
roughly 1,000,000 sqft of commercial space
are also being projected here. Presently, the
Valley is still lit-up, but it appears inevitable
that it will become the Valley of shadows ..
until then, their season runs: late March thru
October, screening 6 pairs of double features
each nite; with a repeat screening of the first
movie as a 3rd feature on Fridays & Saturdays.
Audio for all screens is provided with AM radio.
Admission: $5 (12&up); $3.50 Srs. & ages 12-15.

we have two that I go to out here in MA, One in Leischester<sp?> and one in Mendon both pretty nice, old but drive ins rock! $15 for as many people as you can fit in your car to see 2 movies!!!

One thing I am worried about it how the lowered box is going to handle the little 'speedbump' hill you need to park on.
