Default xB headliner removal / flip-down install Q's?????

I am planning to install a 13" flip-down monitor tomorrow in my xB. I wanted to know if I will have to remove the headliner to do so. My assumption is yes I will have to remove it despite not wanting to. If I do have to take it out is it hard and if anybody has done it can they give me some pointers.

If anybody has flip-down install suggestions in general I will gladly except any help at all. Thanks in advance folks...

I already checked and I can get one for about $150. I would never buy one from the dealer and I work at one. I have other sources for original replacement parts for my Scion...

It's not that hard to take out, but you have to strip a lot of stuff. Take off the rearview, the visors, upper seatbelt bolts, a-pillars, O.S. Handles, B-pillars, rear window surrounds, dome light, several plastic plugs and also pull the rubber trim partway down around the doors and hatch. When you get all that off, you'll see there's a little bit of plastic on either side that kinda clamps on the headliner. Push them out and it'll come loose. I would suggest having another person to help remove it without letting it bend, right out the hatch.

After typing all that, I think there's a tech article on this...

But it looks like it skipped the removal part...

Im thinkin about just mounting to the roof support beam that runs under the dome light. I really dont wanna have to rip all that out which was my initial concern after looking at how the headliner was in there. I dont know yet for sure. Im gonna look at it more closely tomorrow after I get the flip-down to see what the mounting bracket actually looks like...

It's not easy securing something well with a small area to base it. Most of the installs I've read about used a block of wood and glued it to the roof under the headliner to give a base to attach to. But I've never done anything like this. I do know it was impossible to get my wink mirror to not swing with only 2 mounting points.

These cars come apart so easily, I could have my headliner out in less than 15 minutes i bet with a phillips, a 10mm and a 14mm

Yeah like I said. I havent really decided on anything yet. I have to see how late I stay out partying tonight and how hungover I am in the morning. That will be the deciding factor on how involved an install I feel like dealing with tomorrow...
