That's awesome! Now when they break into your car, they can steal your pistol, too...possibly even shoot you with it if you come upon them while they're in your car!

That looks like a Springfield Armory XD (compact) in 9mm

If it is, it's a good pistol. I helped talk them into taking over
importing/manufactur of that pistol back when it was the
Croation Army's pistol. Gives Glock a good run for it's money!!

I forgot to add...too bad I can't do the same here in Illinois.
Unless your a cop or armed security, I could arrested for even stopping for milk
on my way home from the gun range with my pistols. The law says that I can only
transport too and from the gun range or store/smith and my home.

It blows. Welcome to the Republic of Chicago.

I live in NY where the temptation to use "security" is too overwhelming.
Every drive into manhattan includes at least one person/cab cutting you off.

Do yourself a favor and keep your gun away from your driving experience.
No good can come of that.
Ask Bernie Getz.

Just so I don't get flamed by anyone. Being a business owner and carrying large amounts of cash I feel much safer carrying. Even though the post was to be humorous, I do take gun safety very seriously. Me, my girlfriend, both her parents, her sister, and her sisters b/f all carry (It's alright in pa if you have a concealed weapons permit). We are all avid shooters and are at the range pretty often. Kind of a strange way to bring the family together.

There is no problem carrying a gun, as long as you have the ability/confidence/intelligence to use it (or in most cases, not use it or even pull it out). Most times my weapon is holstered on my ankle or side, just found it funny that it fits perfectly in the center console.

My carry weapon in the pic is a Glock 26. Springfield does make a few nice handguns though. I'm itching to buy one.

It's your right to have a gun, don't let the anti-gun tards get you down.

Just got back from another family outing at the range. All six of us today. I was dead on with my 26. If I wasn't spending so much on my stereo system at the moment I think I would be picking up a larger framed gun to try something different. I'm thinking a Glock 19.... Anyone have any suggestions?

I love the trigger pull on the glock. I've tried my g/f sisters Taurus and her mom's Ruger, but just don't like the feel of them. Her dad's 19 is pretty sweet.

Heh.

Relax, guys, those of you in the 'no carry' states (with, BTW, the generally highest death by firearm AND violent crime rates...) don't have to worry about those of us who carry legally where we can.

I've carried (legally) since I got out of the service in '70, and haven't shot anyone since getting out...

In all those years I've only drawn my weapon twice 'for cause' and both times the purp waited quietly for the police to show (one at a 7-11 being robbed with me as another customer and once thwarting a home invasion at a single female friend's home).

I don't describe to the public where I carry, and even question mentioning that I normally carry a 'backup,' but here's my normal carry...

( a 9mm S&W and a .32 cal KelTec)

Just to keep the 'bad guys' guessing, I may or may not have other items on me.

I typed out this long post, but IE crashed and I lost it all...
Go figure (on both accounts).

The gist of it was, having had lots of Tactical Pistol training
over the years, and taught pistol safety myself, I find that
I'm much LESS likely to reach for the pistol. In fact, though
I have several around the apartment, I'd probably reach for
a baseball bad should someone break in.

One of the things that really sunk in with me, is meet force
with equal force. I'll just leave it at that.

Nice choice, I love my Glock. I, too, am in a concealed carry state with a liscense to do so. I never even thought about sticking it there though. I always have cd's in there.
Thanks

Kinda off topic, but I wouldn't know where else to ask this....

Let's say someone was robbing your car or house, they pointed a gun at you first, and you blow them away with some crazy gun like a Desert Eagle .50 ... There was six witnesses including a priest and chief of police who back you up on shooting in self defense. Since you shot him with a freakin .50, there's blood, guts, gray matter, and bone chunks everywhere.

Who has to clean up the mess? Does the city have some poor guy come out and do it after they take the body away, or are you just SOL?

There are crime scene cleanup companies. They also do accidents.

My duty carry personal defense weapon is a Beretta M9. My personal carry and occasional hunting pistol is a Beretta 92FS Brigadier in stainless steel. I love both of my Berettas, and I would highly recommend one to anybody looking for a reliable weapon -- but stay away for the .40! 9mm is the only way to go if you get a Beretta.

As far as a gun as "portable security," I truly hope that it never comes to that.

The whole point of it being portable is so you can take it with you when you leave your car. So when you go to your car and see some freaks rummaging through it you can stand a good 20 feet away and be absolutely safe while calling the cops. All this is assuming you have proper training and permits for a handgun

As Sharapov said, their are special clean up crews that deal with those kinds of
cleanups. Unfortunatly if there were *no* witnesses, you might not be able to clean
it up for days, sometimes weeks while they investigate.

On a more serious note, NOBODY with any brains would use a DE .50 on someone
breaking and entering. The possiblity of shooting through someone and hitting an
innocent beyond is way too great. Home defence pistols should be small, easy to
access and use by a woman, and be low power so as not to blow holes through the
person and beyond, or worse yet, go through your drywall and possibly kill your
children on the other side of the wall.

The magazine in my primary carry has Glaser's in it. http://mysite.elixirlabs.com/index.p...2665&page=1981

Follow-up magazines are high-velocity hollow-points in the first, and +p ball in the second.

Backup firearm is all HV hollow-points.

I have the Glasers in the first mag because they do not overpenetrate, and are safe for folks on the other side of apartment walls, etc. In a rapid-response face-to-face encounter, the Glasers can handle an unarmoured assailant, and if the target needs more aggresive rounds stepping to the follow-up mags is quïck and easy.

Luckily I've never had to fire as a civilian. Hopefully it will remain that way.
