xB Release 3.0 Battery Life Watching Video
My son enjoys watching videos in my xB so much that he wants to live in it!!
Anyone know how much video/radio time I have before the battery wears down?
Has anyone run the battery down to the point it would not start?
Thanks,
John

If you have a 5 speed, you can push start it if it goes dead.
I think your son will konk out before the battery does.
Once started, your box will re-charge the battery to operational levels.

They make this thing that protects the battery from being drained to the point of not starting the car. It will disconnect the battery when the voltage drops to a certain point.
Everybody should note that running your car at idle doesn't charge the battery much at all, especially a yellow top that takes a charge more slowly than a standard lead-acid battery.
As for how long you can run one with the screens going, probably quite a while, but it really depends on how loud you have the system and if there are any other draws on the battery besides the audio/video system (dome light, other stereo equipemt, engine lighting, whatever).
One of my plans for this year's show season is to make sure somebody from our club always brings a jump pack to the shows. That way we have no worries at all.

yeah.. will be packin a jumper pack along now too... also looking into buying a power supply that i can use at shows that require the battery to be disconnected....
which is kinda confusing.. why disc the battery if your just gonna hook up an external supply to the battery cables to power the car??? am i missing something there?? besides the remote chance of a battery leak??
Ok, I'm the rs3.0 owner that was with kkawana. I had to replace that battery as I completely fried it. I got a jump to leave there, when i got on the highway it started to rain so i turned my wipers on and the box died! It started up again while i was rolling, but i could only have one thing on at a time. I do have to say, I have two extra screens in there and an amp and sub. In past, I've been able to have my radio and video on for about 4 hours and it started right up, no problem. I just upgraded my battery to the Stinger 1700. I don't for see any future problems now.
In short... if you're completely stock, don't worry about running the Audio/Video for an extended amount of time.
PEACE!!!
