Default Xb Totalled. Parts needed :( along with major help!

Ok so I have an 05 scion Xb that was pretty much stock minus the car stereo which got taken from it when it was wrecked that needs to be fixed up. Insurance is not going to fix it but I do not really want to talk about that right now. This is basically just going to be a pretty much stock car just with a decent stereo system in it for commuting from school and back. If anyone has stock parts from their xb that they need to dispose of let me know. I need basically hood, bumper cover, head lights, radiator, drivers fender, driver lower control arm, radiator fan, radiator supports top and sides and I am not sure what kind of over flow is in the lower drivers side area but that is busted as well along with the plastic around the intake has a crack and sucks in air causing the engine to stall along with the power stearing pump pulley to be bent. The back Glass was not broken by the accident..... I am guessing it was broken to steal the car stereo along with the drivers side break light. OH and ANYONE who has removed their AIR BAGS for car stereo stuff or monitors or a steering wheel ect I need to replace those too! I was able to pull most of the damaged parts off with ease so far to include the bumper cover, the radiator, the fenders but i cannot figure out how to remove the brake lights on this car or how to get the plastic off for the intake.

I'm not really a do-it-yourselfer but even if i was, i think you are taking on a job that's too big. i mean, sure, you can probably do it, but in time and effort alone you will make up the price of an entirely brand new xB. not to mention the frustration.

If you know someone (a body shop, collision repair shop, etc) that'll give you an awesome deal on parts + labor, then go for it. but if if winds up spending more than 12k (cost of wreck + parts + labor) it's definitely not worth it. if you can spend 7 or 8k MAX for everything, then i'd say you have a good project on yours hands and go for it!

for what it's worth,

i have a question for you, did the insurance company total it out or not?

as far as the fixing goes, as long as you can get the parts and you are slightly mechanically inclined then go for it. if you were closer to me i would gladly help you out for the price of dirt.

The Insurance company has not totalled it out. They are not covering it period. I mainly want to find the parts i need cheap because untill then I am driving my motorcycle every place which is a little better on gas but it sucks when you have to hold all your school books and stuff on your back rain or shine. It still has a clear title on it which is why I am going to fix it if i can afford it

Ok I have pulled off a few more parts from the car and I have replaced the brake lights as my first actuall fix thing... small i know but a first step. I have pulled off the drivers control arm which was bent and am now looking for another one of those. That and the radiator are the only things that it needs to be drivable again. The power stearing on this is bent or well the pulley is so I have to figure that out as well, but i can hardly even get to the power stearing! *grunts in frustration at the car*

You need to check http://www.car-part.com

Doing a quick check I found radiators for $25-$300. I found the control arm for $40-$126. And the power steering pump (should include pulley) was listed for $35-$150.

You can use that site to find pretty much any other part you need as well.

I understand you are trying to do this on your own, but make sure you take it to a good body shop when you are done reassembling the car (before paint) and have them check it on their rack. They will be able to tell you really quickly if anything chassis wise is out of whack.

So care to share the story of how your car ended up in this state, and why insurance refuses to cover it?

Check the classifieds on this site. There is a guy in Canada parting out 3 XBs.

Why could you only search in your state? Do a nation wide search, and you will have much better luck. And I think every singe yard linked to car-part does shipping.

Hmmm. He responded to me in a couple of days. He didn't have what I needed.
