So Pinky,

You seem to think the opposite of 2toned? He is saying these ride really stiff and you seem to think they are to soft. What do you mean by soft? Just curious as I just bought a set of the progress coilovers just the other day.

Whipple, I will be very interested in your impressions on the ksports. Did you get custom spring rates? Proctor and hotbox, did you get custom spring rates? These are the Kontrol Pros, right?

to be honest with you -- I know what a spring rate is, and I know what it does...however, as a newb to coilovers on cars, I figured I'd just stick with what came with it for the time being because i figure they are purposfully set up for the xB (albiet maybe not for the road). If I get them and find out that they are just absolutely unbearable, I will look into changing the springs.

With that said, has anyone come across a dual-rate spring for the B? I don't mean a spring that is wound tighter at the top, but one that is literraly 2 seperate springs.

...and yes, they are the Kontrol Pros.

I'll give you another opinion on the Ksports when I get em...I haven't been able to find a really solid answer anywhere I look...most of what I have seen has been pretty biased opinions directing people to the ones they have...

...I have noticed, however, that a couple people have been starting to surface saying that they don't care for the Progress's ride and whatnot. Which seems to me would make sense, as you lose stroke the lower you go.

The biggest contributing factors that I have seen, and that make sense, are a) the ability to lower w/o losing stroke and b) finding a streetable spring rate. I for one, could care less, I want to ride low and tight...if I can't go fast in a straight line, I sure as hell am gonna go as fast as I can from side to side!

Oh, I was also curious...those of you that are running these stiff set ups (D2s, KSport, etc...), how drastically have they effected tire wear? Again, I could care less at this point...but I may want to start budgeting for new tires when I find out that my current ones last about as long as an 80yr old's erection.

I picked up TEIN Basics from a SL vendor. $736 + shipping. While I would like it to drop my xB more, I really love the way it rides. I went from S-Techs / TRD shock and struts to the Basics. I like the ride better from the basics.

I have a buddy riding on the JIC's. And your right, you get what you pay for. They handle great, I recomend anyone to get them if they have the bread.

Now, as for the tein basics, for the mnoney Id rather go with the Ksports. You have the adjustable PBM, and Ksport carries the rear replacement shock for $100 each.

With the teins, the leak afer a while.

D2's are good too. You can get em for about the same price now a days.

So from what I have read in this thread is:

Ksports are rough on the street.
Tein Basics are comfortable, but leak after some time.
Progress are bouncy.
JIC handle great. (vague description)

I'm looking to buy a set of coilovers as soon as I buy my xB (few weeks). I want something with a comfortable ride and height adjustability.

From the looks of it the Ksports are out. I dont want something harsh and Ive also read about them blowing after a year of use (read this on Honda-Tech).

The Tein Basics sound good b/c of the comfortable ride, but I dont want to replace my shocks a year down the road (or less) after spending $600-$900.

Progress sounds annoying (if it truly is bouncy). And I cant afford the JICs.

I'd like to hear some more about the Tein Basic and Progress coilovers.

Look into the D2's also. Ive had friends with those and they are good also.

All coilovers are going to be bouncy. And the lower you go the bouncier. My choices would be:

JIC
D2 Auto
Ksports
Progress

My .02 cents

I have been waiting on my progress coilovers for a month now.

When I finally get them and install, I will let you know how they feel.

Man, I am getting anxious.

I was waiting for them too...but I got too anxious, glad I did though, I love the Ksports...handling for DAYYYYS -- now I'm out driving my tires! I hear mixed reviews on the Progress...I would take it with a grain of salt tho, I hear more good than bad about them...there is always those picky ***** out there that are expecting more than what they paid for ya know?

Yea, I hear you man. I read the good and the bad about the progress set up, but with the $$$ I was working with I decided to give them a try. It is difficult to base your own decision on other peoples opinions, but we will see how it works out.

I am going nuts waiting though.

Glad you like your K-sports though. The stance looks great. I figure if I really hate them, I can always unload them either here or on ebay, possibly take a loss an save up for a new set.

Now that I think about the term "bouncy".....what is the diff between bouncy and stiff. I mean, you got to figure that if ksports are really stiff that it would inherently make the ride more bouncy right? Or does it mean bouncy in the sense that if you hit a bump it will bounce up and down like an old lincoln town car with blown struts?
