Default Gen 1 Eibach Sportline springs...rears Binding...

Has anyone had this problem? I just got them installed and went to a buddies place to brag. He then was doing and once over and saw that the back springs were binding up. Only 2 coils of the 12 werent binding up. Mind you i didnt even notice> I drove for at least 20 miles before we noticed and for the most part the ride was better than stock. I have no extra weight in the back unless you count the box and subs but i cant see the rears binding that bad with such little weight. the springs were install by a local shop with a good rep, one who specializes in supsension and they didnt say anything so i was hoping that someone could give me the 411 on these things.

Thanks

Are you talking about the springs compressed to the point that the coils are touching each other? Almost every lowering spring and even some coilovers for the xB will have this problem. Its because the springs are progressive (they get "stiffer" as they are compressed) and not linear.

Thanks for the reply. I called Eibach homebase in Cali and they said the same thing. Plus i talked to a couple dudes at clubxb and all that had the same springs said the same thing as well. So i guess this weekend i am putting them back on!!

Yea, that's exactly what they should do. These are called 'dead coils'.
