Just making some clarifications, oh holy one. I didn't realize your posts were above reproach. What with comments like "We can't all be rich kids you know."

And if you want to know more about my condescending attitude, there is an easy way to learn more. You can ask some of the people in here who are just getting interested in air suspension how condescending I have been to them when they've had questions.

Typically this isn't a problem as you would just cut at the other end of the spring.

It can be a problem though if your spring has a specific "seating" arrangement at each end. If this is the case you either need to cut a full coil to get the correct seating, or you can't cut them at all. I honestly haven't looked at the xB suspension enough to know whether or not any of these conditions exist. If you aren't sure... don't do it. Save your paper route money and order a set of drop coils.
Well I appreciate the advice anyway...

Yeh I already have Tein S-Techs but it would be nice if the fronts were about 1/2" lower than they are. Thought about getting a used set of Goldlines or RS*Rs for just the fronts but don't know if mixing up the rates is a good idea.

I'm talking about comments like this..."And I can tell you first hand that there are better ways to "ball on a budget" as you so eloquently put it. "

And the fact that he felt that he had to imply how intelegant he was about customs by focusing on channeling versus bodydrops instead of springs was unescissary, and cocky.

Think what you will about me, no skin off my nose. I never post in here purely as a personal attack. When I do post it is either because I have a question, or because I feel I have information that would benefit others.

In this case... based on my personal experience it is unacceptable to recommend to people to heat a set of coil springs for additional drop just because they are short on cash. Cutting, or heating springs is "ghetto", and I would never do it on one my own vehicles. However, heating them is just plain unsafe. The tensile strength of the steel is reduced, and over time they WILL fail. Don't want to call it a failure? Fine. But the reality is a coil spring with no gap between the coils is no longer a coil spring. No spring = no suspension. No suspension = failure.

If there is a safer, cost effective solution to a problem presented, and I know about it, I am going to share. And yes sometimes I can be a little harsh to those who choose to share "bad" information.

The spring advice is fine, but don't pick apart my posts, and imply that I am some sort of unintelligent cave-man because I used the term "ballin' on a budget". That to me represents an attack on your part. If you don't want to hear about it, the answer is simple, don't offend.

This will be my last post related to the "cat fight" that dAbOkZ is implying.

Yes I commented on the "ballin'" statement. And I did because of my history in dealing with "Minitruckers." Though I do own a bagged Dakota, I hate to even consider myself a minitrucker because of the bad connotation that it implies now. The kind of people I know who say things like "ballin'" and use hot rodders and body drops in the same reference are the type that don't really have a clue. I am sorry if you take offense to that, but it is my experience.

And my comment clarifying the difference between channeling and body dropping was absolutely valid. The last thing I want is for some young kid excited about cars to get shunned at a local show because he asks a hot rodder if his car is body dropped. Because we all know that "Hot Rodders" have been known to be just as snobbish as "Minitruckers" are to be ignorant.

And for you Mike... the answer is simple... Don't take offense.

Wow, sorry but I could not disagree more with you. Many mini-truckers are igfnorant and do sloppy work, but the closest relative to a mini trucker is a hot rodder. And they are ussually snobbish because they do good work, and don't want to be bothered ny amatures.

And strereotypes are not polite man. I can use the word "ballin" in the same sentence as mini truckers, and still posses the intelligance to fabricate parts for multi million dollar fighter jets. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with mini truckers before, but some of us are literate, educated, sophistacated individuals.

dAbOkZ, Shoo fly, don't bother me. :D

Anyone forget this wasn't their box? So why does it matter so much what he has done? Sure, you wouldn't do it. But he did and he apparently likes it so...Who are you to judge?

I personally think the box looks great. I wouldn't have heated the springs, but that was your call. I think the rims are a little too big, but that again is my personal opinion. Definitely buy some coilovers and get some more power under the hood and you are ready to go!

Good luck!

The point of the posts were not to take shots at someone for the way they have done things. Though I do disagree with the way he accomplished his drop. My post was directed at the hundreds of other people who have read this thread and never posted a word. I am sure there is at least one of them who did not know that heating springs was bad. My post was for them.

If my post keeps someone from making a mistake with their "customization" but ruffles a few feathers at the same time, it was more than worth it.

Of course we're good. Never been bad.

And I'd like to see some pix of your truck if you've got them. What kind is it? All I know right now is that you are bagged.
