Nice to have you posting from Japan, fluxingnation!

It will be interestng to 'compare notes' on how different the first generation bB and the xB differ - and of course how much they are the same. Hope you enjoy your bB! :D

The pics of the used bB were interesting - we need to see YOURS, of course, too. Be interesting to follow what you do with your box.

...and of course, I couldn't let THIS go without commenting...

Take care,
Tomas

Tomas I agree the honda plate does hurt.

mine is the same color as the one in the pick but is about 1.5" lower that is how it came from the factory. It also came with the auto shifter on the steering colum not sure if that is the same for the XB.

They do have a lot of color choice, Blue was my second choice, they have this orange goldish metelic but it came in 2003 version and I could not aford one that new. Got , mine for $6500 with 74000 km, 46000 miles.

The consol is a weird, it is brown if you are looking at it directly but if you are looking at it from an angle it could be green or gold (fruit loops). Not my taste, kind of cheesy, like fury dice hanging from the rear view. But I have to live with it, I cannot justify spending $200 for something to replace it while there are performance upgrades to be done. I try to ignore it but it is right in front of me and it is driving me nuts.

I will make effort to take some picks (note to self: wash car first, must hide shame) and post. I have to thank many a scion member for the invaluable information they have made available enabling me to make sane well informed decisions especially in regards to the workings of the VVTI computer.

By the way they there is a version of the bB which has the hatch space turned into a mini truck bed, is there an xB version as well?

There are differences between your domestic bB and the xB we get, other than left hand/right hand drive.

Some of them are: Shifter placement (the bB comes only with an automatic with a column mounted selector, the xB with either manual or automatic, both mounted on the floor center console). bB has bench front seat, xB buckets, xB has spare tire under raised floor behind rear seats, bB comes in two engine sizes and 2 or 4 wheel drive, xB only in 1.5L and 2 wheel drive, the bB has many more options available than the xB.

What's neatest, though, is that even though they are well priced for what one gets, and very practical, they are also a very fun vehicle. :D

Take care,
Tomas

Ok, I have what may be very good news. There is a Japanese company in Nagoya where I am that is planing on making a full polyurethane bushing sets for the bB/xB I do not have the details yet but I think it will be fairly soon.

I cannot wait. I was talking with the guy and his company usually makes stuff for k-cars (660cc engine cars) under different names. they do daihatsu cars, suzuki, as well as subaru. They have not done tOYOTA YET BECAUSE tOYOTA DOES NOT MAKE k-CARS, BUT THEY SEEM TO HAVE TO TAKEN A SHINE TO THE Bb/Xb. The company makes different products like full exauhst systems, pulley set the whole nine yards. I do not know if they will offer these products in the U.S. They usually do not deal with U.S because the K-cars are not exported to U.S.

I could not get too much out of him he was realy tight liped about it. I had to load him up with beer to get this info.

Maybe next time I have to get him started on the hard stuff 40% that will get the tight liped bastered singing.
