Default Mechanic's opinion of the xB..Front end Alignment problem?

I posted an earlier thread "xB no good for Indiana.....so says spouse"....and received a lot of good information from everyone! THANKS!!! Although I have yet to convince him to take a look at it, and I ask him every other day~ I am so "ate up" with this car, after researching it, test driving it and now getting my $ & a loan together to purchase in the near future. The hubby still says it's too light weight, but says knows he can't talk me out of buying it, he knows me well :) . Well, we just left the shop today for new brakes on the '89 Honda, and he spoke with the mechanic, and my choice of vehicle. He stated that the mechanic has seen 3 of these (Skions) (did not say which) with front end alignment problems; said that they are built too low to the ground and when they hit pot holes, they need to be serviced. OK if that is true wouldn't this be covered under a warranty??? They have not even been in Indiana for more than a year I believe.
Whats up with that? Still another ploy to try to persuade me to buy the CR-V???
Thanks in advance!

It's not Skion, it's "SIGHON" so let your mechanic know. I have had no issues with front end alignment and I have a lowered xb. You'll find that just about any car will need alignment with big hits such as potholes, etc.

You might ask the mechanic if these three were in for an alignment due to people lowering their cars. Lowering is very common among all Scions and an alignment is needed afterwards.

Sounds like BS to me... The xB has descent ground clearence like most cars. I don't see why it would be any different. I have not noticed any problems. I have been under the xB a couple of times and it looks fine with no low hanging parts that would be affected by potholes.
Any car that hits a bad pothole might end up needing an alignment.
The xB is light weight llike your husband said, that is reason why it gets great mileage and handles so well.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.

We've never had a Scion in for alignment here at the shop. The only ones I even know of that have been aligned in Iowa are either accident victims or custom lowering jobs.

Your husband doesn't want a CR-V. He's not a soccer mom, right?

As others have said, I'll bet any alignment issues with the xB are due to oversized rims with low-profile tires and lowered springs.

A totally stock xB (mine is all stock with factory alloy wheels) rides great, sounds great, and has great gas mileage. (just filled up... 35MPG in mixed City/Highway with A/C running)

THANKS! For someone who knows nothing about cars, except where the gas goes and which key starts it up, I feel EMPOWERED by your responses and the need to read...now 25 hours on opinions, consumer reports, this forum and web sites on this vehicle, before I buy. I just learned what "stock" means, I love the internet, thanks, guys!!! Thanks for letting me "lurk" around and learn
next post will be when I finally purchase~
