Default Need help: spacers

I got a set of generic 1/4in spacers for my rear wheels, to get a more aggressive stance in the rear, they are designed for "compact cars" with a 4 lug setup. . . but I would like to poll you guys for your opinions. BTW, these are the spacers that go over the studs, rather than extend the studs themselves.

I know generic spacers are stupid. . . but the gap is annoying, and I can't justify paying $50+ for hub spacers to move the wheels a few milimeters. . .

1/4" is 6.35mm. Just a tad too thick. I would get extended lugs. The H&R comes with them so i would use them just to be safe. Remember you are losing 6.35mm of stud when you are using those spacers.

I would check the length of the wheel studs first. You'll need to have at least 6 full rotations, or you're going to loose a wheels or two, and possibly get hurt.

If you want at least 1/4 inch of spacing, you're better off w/ Van's rear spacing shims in the rear.

Oh, this is for xB and not sure if it'll work w/ xA or not. I'm not a Scion expert.

i had these same type spacers on the rear of my bmw. they worked fine for awhile. until one day heading towards cal-expo. my car was wobbling and by the time i stopped to turn onto fair oaks from watt oncei finally came to a stop my rear drivers side tire came off. luckinly i was at a stop and nothing bad happened.(other than being late for work and gettin the ____ scared outta me) i'd say make DAMN SURE there is at least 6 turns. OR ELSE. ask for some damaged shims maybe van has some laying around. save up bro. i gotta save up for air bags u gotta save up for rear wheel spacers. ok? OK!! peace

At LEAST 6 rotations. That way when they are torques down, they won't loosen or strip out.

I'm not an expert on anyting that has to do w/ cars let alone Scions.

Check out the videos on OTG about generic spacers:

IMO, the attachment of your wheels to your car isn't an area to skimp on... skimp somewhere else.

Thanks Will!

Its sort of in the middle of a major make-over right now. The hood and wing are on, and I still have a few pieces sitting in the garage. Not too mention a few pieces that are on order.
