If you think this through then how can they prove that the added sway bar caused anything to break??? im curious, i have the progress and they only thing that i could see toyota voiding warranty on would be the lower holes on the bottom of the rear suspension.....holes..... legally that part would not void warranty
exactly, it would void nothing......

An extra $80-$100 to insure that I don't have to pay lawyer fees and court costs in order to prove that Toyota has to pay for a new muffler?

Sounds pretty cheap to me.

that dented muffler could IN NO WAY be caused by ANY type of sway bar EVER. well unless of course you take the swaybar and hit it with the swaybar on purpose before/during installation.

Is that the correct part number for the xA? Where can I verify this info? I don't see anything on the TRD website.

I agree with you 100%. However, If you and I came into a Scion dealer with 1 TRD dealer installed part and 1 Non-TRD part, guess who would wind up not having to wait weeks or months arguing with Toyota Lawyers, paying court fees, etc. for a $171 dollar part. I bet I would have a replacement in before you (I'll give you a lift to court if you like, cause you sure don't want to touch evidence during a trial).

Sometimes you just gotta weigh the options. Obviously a CF Door panel will not mess up a muffler (a different but valid example), so something that extreme could be easily found in favor of the customer in the case of a dented muffler, and yes, TRD made many measurements to insure that the sway bar does not smack the muffler (when they install it). Some things are easier in the long run to just pay a little extra.

I made the bonehead mistake of buying the EP10 wheels that were the option for my Xa last year. I could have saved a lot of money had I just researched other wheels that are well-known to fit. This is one argument where you would have been totally correct

toyota lawyers wouldn't get involved. the dealer more than likely would side with u and do it whether they wanted to or not warranty issues are not that big unless theyre talkin about multiple hundre dollar fixes. aka clutch , paint , engine , trans.

but hell a few peeps i know have had their scion trans changed multiple times and a few peeps i know have gotten new motors. and they treated theirs like crap.

Is it really a 10 minute install job using the existing OE hardware?

Carson Toyota is selling this bar for $149.

WHEW!

Sorry, lost track of this thread sometime back!

Um, let me confirm, the part number is PTR11-52060. List MSRP is $171 and installed MSRP is $250. This same part fits 2005-2006 xA/xB (according to the bulletin, I'll let you know if it fits my '04).

There's a stop sale on them for most of the nation for some reason. Mine had to be routed to Iowa through LA. It just showed up last week sometime.

The pic I posted before is the one from the bulletin and isn't my car. I don't know whay the mffler/resonator is dented.

Hopefully we get some nice weather here in Iowa soon and I can get the sucker on there.

Good stuff.

hahaha most dropped xB's (like mine) and you can barely see the TIRES from the back let alone anything else.

Also anyone who is terrified that a dealer is going to see an air freshner or whatever the hell as a potential warranty void'r needs to grab a beer and chill out. There are laws that protect the consumer more than protects the dealer. As long as you aren't cutting anything off, drilling an excessive amout of holes, or find your making modifications such that your injectors aren't feeding enough fuel to your engine anymore, you are probably OK, so relax!
