Default xA Rough Ride - Suggestions

So my wife has an xA and it rides a little rough with the stock suspension. It feels really stiff and as a result driving around the area we live kind of sucks. Anyone notice this and have the suspension redone with something smoother?

i hear koni shocks make a big difference, I have some on backorder right now. We'll see... riding on 18's with 225 40's really hurts going all the way to LA and back.

Also if you don't have the coin to drop on the Koni option or do not feel the need for adjustable dampening, look into Monroe replacements. Do a search and you can find the part numbers you need. They are significantly less than the Koni units, and everyone on here who has them say they ride much better than stock.

if you have no need for the adjutability and if its an every day car, that you dont plan on racing ever. Buy monroe you will be VERy ahppy with the better ride quality ive heard nothing but good thing about the monroe. But once again dont race with the monroes they are not designed for that kind of punishment.

Do the Monroe shocks work with a lowered car?

If all you are doing is adding a set of 2" springs the standard Monroe shock is fine. If you are planning on a significant drop 3"+ or bags use the following Monroe shocks sold through NAPA.

Information courtesy of Spider13:
Item: Shock - Sensa-Trac - Rear
Product Number: NS 5870
Quantity: 2
Price: $29.99
Core Price: $0.00
Total: $59.98

You can use the listed part numbers for the stock replacement and the "drop shock" to cross reference all of your shock options on Monroe's website. You can also use it to order real custom drop shocks from companies who specialize in that sort of thing.

60 bucks? That's all? I might just have to toss some of these on the rear to see what happens.

My ride sucked when it was stock, getting dropped on 18s didn't help.

I had the same problem. What I have done so far is have an auto trim shop add some foam to the seats from front to back with a little in the lumbar area. I also raised the front of the seat by using washers under the front mounts. That alone made a tremendous difference in the comfort level. I just drove 5 hours each way over New Years. Befrore I could not drive more than 30 min without being sore. I think I will probably go with the Monroe shocks also. For $60 you can't go wrong. I would never adjust the Koni's anyway. It sees the Tein H Tech springs will help the ride too and give you about 1 inch lowere stance. I jsut may go for both.

I have looked at every website I can find for the Monroe shocks. Where do you find them? Anyone?

raised the front of the seat with washers? ok, how much did you raise it? Yeah, after a few hours, my upper back/sholder blade area really starts hurting!!!!! And here I was wondering if it was just me or the seat in the xb? :?

I will post some pics in a day or two. The seat was raised about 1/2 inch. Maybe a little less. The foam that the trim shop made a really big difference. I had just the driver's seat done at a cost of $125. I am holding off doing the other as I may buy some Corbeau seats a little later. As I said I will get some pics of the washers and the seats.

Has anyone put the Sensa-matics on the xA? Monroe does not list a part #. Is the rear shock for the xB the same? The xB and the Echo show to be the same. Thanks!

I've got the monroes and they work with a 2" drop on my box with no problem. My buddys got a xa with monroes with a 1.75" drop and they work fine.
