Default ****Help!**** xA RS1 Enkei Wheel...

Yeah, I live in Boston, I guess I need a stronger prescription for glasses because I just couldn't avoid every pothole there is out there... So my front passenger side tire lost some then all of its air, I only knew this because I was in traffic and was able to hear the tire making funny noises, so I got out and had to put the spare on. When I looked at the inside of the wheel it stuck out like a sore thumb, it is cracked! Ouch! Anyways, the crack on the inner part of the wheel starts at the outer lip (where the tire bead sits) and heads perpendicular inward for about 1.5 inches. I was wonderring if this is repairable, is it coverred under the bumper to bumper warranty (yeah right), and where can I get my hands on another xA RS1 Enkei Wheel? The warranty question I am pretty sure the answer is "No" because I read the Scion Warranty booklet that came with the car and it seems that it won't be coverred. The night sales guy at the dealer said it should fall under my regular car insurance (which won't help because of my deductible). Any ways, I will probably be paying out of pocket so no problem, other than finding another wheel if this crack is not repairable...

Thanks for all your anticipated help! I already searched but will try again...

Went to the dealer a little while ago, service guy said it probably wasn't coverred under warranty unless I purchased an additional warranty through the sales dept when I initially bought the car... I am waitng for a call from the sales guy I dealt with to clarify this. I am probably not going to get this coverred so i checked availabiity and price on one from the parts dept. Just under $400 and it may not be readily available. I also contacted the local rim shop and they said they had to look at it and probably could repair it... If anyone else has any other suggestions I open for opinions...

I was quoted $385 for a whole new wheel... Repair should right around $200 if I get it refinished as well. The problem is that the tire is not holding air because of this crack, thus I.ve been riding around on the spare since then so I kinda have to get something else be it a new wheel or repair this one.

Thanks for the response though!

You maybe able to go after the city or town that this happened in. I would not expect to get an immediate answer but it does not hurt to try.

In order to go after anyone I would have to take pictures and be able to document how and when it happenned... I'll look into it after everything is said and done so I have a final cost determined and all the blah blah blah they may ask for...

Just take some pic's and document as best you can. If other cars were damaged by the same pothole it could work out in your favor.

That's what I'll try. However I don't know which exact pothole did it to me... I'll just go find the nastiest one I can remember hitting and take it from there. So far the only ones I've hit were in the city of Boston... Surprise surprise. Although I must say, they have been on top of most of them, but a few have slipped by the public works guys.

Me again... According to two dealers and Scion, the cracked wheel is not warrantyable due to it being a road hazard that caused it... I took the wheel to a local rim and wheel shop to get it repaired. So far cost for welding, straightening, and refinishing is $225.00 I just got a phone call that my tire is no good... Apparently if was run on low air preasurre too long

Anyone know where I can find a Yokohama Avid H4S 205/40R17 for short money?

So far I have found it for $85.00 plus about $15.00 shipping...

Thanks!

you can't have the state pay for it? i know here if you damage rims from potholes and such you can have the state pay for the replacement.
