Default 15" and 16" offset question...xb

Hey I was wondering if any of these ofsets and sizes would cause any problems.

15" x 7" : +27, +38, or +45
16" x 7" : +29, +38, or +44
16" x 8" : +35

which of these would work...and which would work best (most flush)?

As I understand, if you're getting a 7" wheel a 40 offset or less (38?) is ideal.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

+27 would be the best of those choices. It's hard to find low offsets.

I wouldn';t get any offset +40 or higher.

As Rico stated, the lower positive offsets are best and finding a +27 is practically gold. You can run almost all suspension set-ups w/ that offset.

All would work.

The one that would be most flush is the 15x7 with the ET of +27 You probably would still want to run like a 5mm spacer on the back, because the back wheel tucks in about 3mm more then the front.

Get some spacers on those back wheels!!!! With the 15" wheel there is not much of a problem. With 16" + there is part of the suspension that the wheel will rub with that kind of offset. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=79549 that topic has pics of damage caused by the problem. The xB has the exact same problem. So to be on the safe side, I would go make sure your tire/wheel is not rubbing on that thing.

Thats the winner! Run a OTG rear Spacer shim and you'll be good.

ok just for the sake of figuring out this thing; a 16" x 8" would be .5 inches (about 12.7 mm) wider on each side of dead center (0 offset) than a 16" x 7" rim right? (because its an inch wider) So a +35 offset would be pushed out like a car with a 7" rim and a +22.3 offset right? (+35mm - 12.7mm = 22.3) Just wondering...

I have some 15X7 Konig Rewinds with a +40 offset. The stock 185/60 15 tires are on them I was amazed how little clearance I had from my rear suspension. This picture shows that I couldn't even fit the tip of my index finger between the rear suspension and tire:

I put on One ton Garage spacers:

Now I have about 15mm clearance instead of about 5 mm. I can't believe how little clearance the stock tires had. The OTG spacers are very high quality and not very hard to install:

Clearance after adding spacers:

How long did it take you to install the spacers?

It took me about an hour. I could do it in half that time now. The instructions that came with the spacers were pretty clear. I would suggest taking the brake drums off even though the instructions don't tell you so. It makes the brakes much lighter and easier to handle, and it also makes it really easy to line up the bolt holes in the axle with the holes in the spacer.

You are correct. On an 8" wide rim offset +35mm, the outer edge of the rim will be pushed out like a 7" wide rim offset +22.3mm, BUT the inside edge of the wheel will be pushed in like 7" wide rim offset +47.7mm (+35mm + 12.7mm=47.7).

As you can see in the pics posted above, 15x7 +40 gets pretty close to the suspension...so 16x8 +35 would be even closer by 7.7mm......

If I decided to go with the 16" x 7" with a +29 offset, could i run otg 5 mm spacers in the front and back without it sticking out?

No problem, you'd probably need another 15-20mm on top of that before you start sticking out...

It seems to me that the 16x8 +35 would be the closest to flush of the bunch. Add the OTG shims in the rear and you'd be set.
