Default 15s on a tC?

Anyone successfully running 15" wheels on their tC? I was talking to the guy at a local tire store today about getting snow tires on a set of 15s, and he expressed concerns about the wheel not being able to clear the brake caliper.

Anyone tried it?

Find somebody local who has a 5 lug corolla or camry, and just borrow one of their wheels to test fit,

if you get the right offset of course you can do it, but I dont recommend it. I had to put 16" on the rear temporarily until my new 18's came in today, and it didnt look right at all. Thank God they are coming off tonight!

17" or bigger dawg, thats where you want to be.

nothing idiotic about it... especially for a winter setup...

mark: also check out tirerack.com... they have recommendations for tC winter packages... and IIRC they actually had listings for 15's and 16's wheels...

15s make good sense for snow tires -- you want to run lower pressure in snows, so a low-profile tire's not a great idea, especially on Vermont roads. Too easy to bend a rim by hitting a pothole. Sure the 15s won't look as good as the 17s that come with the car, but it doesn't really matter when the car's covered with grime and has fenderbergs hanging off it...

Another reason 15s are a good idea for snow tires: 205/60R15s are a lot cheaper than 215/45R17s! Snow tires wear fast, so I'm going to need to replace them every two or three years.

We offer a wide selection of 15" wheels for the tC. You can find them under the "Winter" section on our site at http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DJ1&...nter/index.jsp. If you would like to talk to me personally, please fee free to give me a call!

flintTC324, CA winters and VT winters im guesing are a heck of a lot different . 17s on lower profile tires is pretty stupid in NE so snow tires are necessary.

PM garciaog and he can help you. he has 16 winter tires on some steelies i believe he got a TTR. i cant be sure though.
he might be helpful to ya though.
