225/40/18 is it possible?
I have Megan Springs on my car with G-Racing Kuma 18" rims (no idea of the offset). Would it be possible to throw a 225/40/18 tire on it? I want to fill the little bit of gap I have left as well as increase the sidewall and go a little wider. Anyone running this size tire with 18's?

I am sure I have seen some posts using this size. I have 215/40/18 on mine My wheels are 18x7.5 42MM offset. Wider rubber would contact the rear axle beam at the front inner edge of the rear tires. This could be dealt with by spacing (I spaced my 215's 5MM just to get a little more than 1/16-" gap), from looking at mine I think 10MM or more would fit with this offset as long as the car isn't slammed. The front at 42MM offset and 215's can slightly touch the subframe at full lock turns right or left but not enuf to even mark the tire (well maybe if you held the wheel there and did circles for hours). Here again you could space 5-10MM or more as long as you aren't slammed. My box is on air and when all the way down the tires just touch the fender so I can not space them out , at ride heights ( about a 2.5 inch drop) there is enough room to space them. If your wheels are within a range of 32-42Mm offset I bet they would fit fine, and maybe even without spacers. Your speedo will read 4.9% too slow.

Screw that, I have this setup. I am running the trd wheels, on trd springs (about a 1 inch drop). I am running kumho ecta mx 225 40 18. They rub at full lock a bit, and a little just before full lock. But the tires RULE. I like this setup even with the rub over the 215 35 18s because it takes the razor sharp edge off the ride, but is still just as responsive. Also it offers more protection for my rims, and is a wider tire, so more traction.

I do not have spacers at all. Again the tires rub. But you just have to be careful. Which you have to be in a car with 215 35s anyway. Be warned though, the Kumho MX (extreme performance) tires wear fast an as hell. I have had them about 4 months, mid summer til october they were on car, and expect to wear them out at the end of this coming fall. So maybe, maybe i will get 12000 out of them. But i doubt it. The tires are soft, and come with warnings not to be used below 40 degrees (they freeze). But the car is light so you can get maybe 1 or two seasons out of them. And they grip like hell, so much more confidence that the stock tires, and much more over the 215 35 pirellis.

i have 18 x7.5 on mine with 225 40 18, they rub on full lock in the front but its from parking in those tight spots. i put a 15mm spacer in the rear and it sits flush, just be careful over really bad bumps doin about 40 mph. you get your rears rolled for about 60 bucks if you get to nervous about it.
