Yes what he said /\/\/\ Even Tire Rack won't sell that size to xB owners because the load rating is not high enough for it. I have 215/45/17 for extra pothole security.
They do look Sweet tho. Nice job bro!!!

205/40 is actually closer to stock size than a 45 series. Im not sure why you guys think the 45 is better. The 40 is tiny bit smaller and the 45 is larger than stock. Look up specs on Tirerack if youd like, the factory tire will run about 860-875 rev. per mi and the 40 series will run anywhere from 875-890 rev per mi depending on the maker of the tire.
The tire size calculator that everyone uses on miata.net shows a .7 mph difference (speedo going .7mph too fast) between stock size and 205/40 at 60mph. With a 45, itll be 1.3 too slow.
Personally, my winter wheel set are 205/40/17s and I drive my car through Baltimore city without any issues of bent wheels. Im not trying to argue, Im just saying you can run them without problem. I might buy a 205/45 for a little comfort in ride when I need new tires.

If you really want to do your best to match the stock diameter with 17" wheels you are all wrong. You should be looking for 215/40/17 tires.
Stock diameter is 23.74". 215/40/17 diameter is 23.77".
This is a common size and is available from all of your normal retail tire sources.
