anyone know the recommended tire size for 18x9.5 my sportmax 006 came in today and i need find out what tires size to run.. i have 18x8.5 in the front and i think im going to go 215/35/18.. i've read and they say to go 225/35/18 on the 18x9.5

hi....I want to buy tires for my XB'06 for enkei CDR 9, 18 " w/ 40 offset wheels, the questions is what is the right size for it ?.....w/ out any modification on the suspension.
some people said is going to be 215/35/18 or 215/40/18. thank's

ok rims and tires are on. 225 35 18's on 18 x 7.5 +40 offset
NEEDS 5mm Spacers in the rear.
No rubbing issues at ALL. no need to grind or do anything. fits perfect and looks amazing!

anything will fit. how much money do you want to spend to get it to work properly is the question.
spacers work great, anything over a 5mm you will want longer studs inorder for the lugnuts to "bite" properly. either that or a wide-tread spacer that includes new studs already. it will turn your +20 rim to a +40 or more depending on how far you push it out. 17 x 9 with a +20? how deep is that dish? that sounds like some serious lipage....

215/50-17 tires fit on xA with minor wheel well mods
Finally finished installing 215/50-17 tires on my xA. Had to do a slight amount of trimming on the front plastic wheel well liners. Also had to do some fairly heavy hammer work on the back of the front fender wells. Finished the job by applying undercoat and a tube of black GE silicone II. Looks great, hard to tell any work was done in the fender wells. Rear installation required no mods at all.
With the larger tires, engine RPM at 70mph is now 7% lower, its like having a 6th gear.

stock wheels/larger tires
I put 205/55/15's on my stock alloy wheels, they fit great, look great. The guys at Just Tires said he was amazed they fit so well, looks like how it should have been all along. I have no rubbing problems at all. The only thing you should be aware of is with the wider tire the car will "track" more, that is follow the road groves/bumps. I notice this only at low speeds, on the hiway its fine.
As for speedo issues, no issue, less than .07% faster, at 60 it is actaully 60.4 not noticible at all.

Larger Rim Size Ride Quality
I am getting ready to get some 215/ 40R-17s but I am writing to ask all you people who have larger rims, what is the quality of the ride like? I know that the ride isn't the best with the stock rim size so I am wondering how rough or how bad it gets when I up the size. Thanks for you help guys!

The guys at the Tire Rack said "every inch you go up in rim size you will lose 10% of your ride quality-comfort that is, but with improved cornering"
I have 16x7.5 rims with 50 series tires and the ride is now more rigid, but it handles way better, it's more responsive in the corners and the wider tires stick like glue.....

The change in ride quality is very noticeable with my 16's, but I love my 16's and wouldn't trade'em for anything, the cornering grip is so tight, especially with suspension mods
I have heard that 17's with 215/40's is a rough ride and potholes and bumps can be bone-jaring at times, that's why I went with 16's, but then again a ton of people do have 17's so maybe it can't be that bad.....
How are the roads in Red Bluff, it's rural up there right? are there a ton of potholes and road imperfections? might wanna consider that. I here it is hot as hell up there in the summer, like the oven of Northern Cali.
