Default Chromed Stock Wheels

Have any of you come across this? I'm looking for a TC. I go to the dealer and see that they have added $1900 for custom wheels. But the wheels are the standard tc 6 spoke that have been sent out and chrome plated and then put back on the car! The smuck salesman even admitted that this is what they do to make more money on the car!

Go to a different dealer. I think that's common practice in some areas though - for most dealers. CA maybe...

I've got them on my car--but the dealer charged me $950 or so. That's almost $1k less than what your dealer was charging you. I got mine at Toyota of Garden Grove. What dealer was this?

LED-- I have no clue...anybody else on here know how much a plating shop would usually charge to plate the stock wheels in chrome?

BTW, thanks! I decided to just go w/ the chrome when I bought it b/c I thought they went well the color--and they don't look too blingy--if they did look blingy at all I wouldn't have gotten them.

The schmuck salesman at Tustin Toyota bragged to me about selling tC's for 26,000.00 while he was trying to sell me the car.

Call the number in my sig, report them.

Tustin Toyota is like that.

At least they're honest, you gotta give them that. Also, there's this one poor salesman who just started working - couldn't figure out how to open a Celica's hatch for the life of him. Opened it for him he said, "heh, thanks." Polite too.

But I got a different guy when looking for a tC. I asked about the 17" rims and he told me that they don't have any because they weren't making any money so they had to have the 18"s on all tCs to make a buck or two. I don't blame them, look at the area. The Tustin/Irvine shopping center (they're located in Tustin but Irvine Shopping Center is right down the street) has a high land value for dealers so it costs them a lot just to keep selling there. Have you seen Tustin Ranch? If those are the kind of customers you're looking at than they won't mind paying a few extra K's worth of dollars for tiny 18"s.

I lied to my dealer and told them I could find it at another dealer for 800... And they said that's the price it goes for... Then I hassled them so much they admitted you can get it chromed anywhere for under 500. My advice in buying, is lie like hell and they'll try to please you.

They believed me, so I got them in my grasps. I'm not sure if I want to get them chromed anymore though... Thinking 'bout just buying rims at SUPER AUTOBACS since I'm getting Tanabe Lowering Springs there. If I do get it chromed, I'll probably get it tinted also for under $1000, which is GOOD for a dealership... I'm actually interested in these rims though, in 18 inches, RSL19 Concept Pro. Looks exactly like the tC's rims, but in a different color. So I might as well have it done else-where.
