Default Curb rash...how many of you have it?

After getting aftermarket wheels, actually, even when I had the stocks on, I always, when parking, try to stay as far away from the curb that I can to avoid wheel damage. One time, this resulted in an unwanted citiation. I think, in LA county, you have to be within 18" from the curb, or something like that and I got ticketed for 20"! My loss.

But how many of you consiously avoid parking close to curbs or concrete parking blocks to agvoid damage you your wheels (and your lip!)

I do all the time. I have to park out away from curbs too cuz i usually sit down(on air). That can end badly if you have you front end over one of those parking lot wheel stoper things.

I've never curbed a wheel that I cared about. But I curb my blazers wheels all the time, I am not sure why.

Curbs are the devil. I'm always paranoid when I parallel park so I'm pretty sure I usually end up further away than whatever the law says you're supposed to be.

i hate curbs, haven't hit one since i put my wheels on the xB but i have hit 2 with the wheels on my last car (same set).

Usually i park as glase to the curbs so i'm away from the people parking next to me. I always try to park next to those little island things in parking lots (parallel parking is rare in FL). I'm worried that once my air ride is all installed i'm going to drop the xB and open my door and *smack* into the curb with the door >_<;!!!

the very first day i got my first set of wheels... BAM!! right into a curb makin a turn, i stopped bein careful at that point, and d/n scratch 'em after that. Then... my friend sold me his rims, brand new, not one scratch. They lasted a week of me bein ultra-paranoid about scratching them, then... trying to navigate a round-about w/ an island in the middle, BAM (x2). Scratched the crap out of 2 rims (all the way around). I'm a curb-magnet (or a major jackass).

I hit a bad pot hole in front of a checker auto store. The hole was huge and I should have missed it. Huge gash- It ruined my whole week. Slowly but surely over the next few months more nicks and scratches came out. My wife caused a couple of the really really long scrapes. I used a air tool grinder to grind the scuff marks down to a universal smooth finish for a much impoved look. Give it a try- A high power dremel tool will do the same

I've seen some tires that guys are running where the tire protrudes from the lip (lip protectors) Ask a good tire dealer and they should know what you're talking about- I know the next set of tire I get I'll be investing in a set for sure. Goodyear makes a nice set - check um out

Those big/deep potholes must be the worst! I know that most wheels are pretty durable; I've been told that 15's with 50/55/60 series tires...that you should not really worry too much about bumps and stuff, but my 3 out of my 4 15" buddy clubs are warped...and I coudn't figure out how they came to be that way! I know there are a couple of bumps on the roads where I drive, but they're not that big. All this time, I was worrying about curb rash, and it was the bumps tha finally got them.
