Default Did I buy fake/knockoff 5Zigen wheels????

I won an auction on Ebay for a set of 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels. The only problem is that I cannot find this style sold anywhere (FN01R-C with a polished lip). Does anyone know if this is a discontinued or custom style. The title says 5ZIGEN JDM FN01R-C 18" GRAPHITE w/Pol.Lip. I've seen JDM on a lot of import products...is JDM associated with knockoff?

I know this wont help to much but it would need to be a old model. I dont see that style listed on http://www.falkentire.com/wheel_choose.htm any more. I need to find the falken japan site because it claims to be jdm so it might not be on the english site.

Edit: I only see 2 wheels on the falken japan site. http://www.falken.co.jp/tirecatalog/wheel/index.html

Although JDM is often used as a search buzzword, after reading the ebay auction I think they mean the ARE JDM - from the Japanese Domestic Market. That would explain why they are not listed on the english language sites you're looking at. They were a Japan only release.

Don't know for sure - just my 2 scents

Is it the color or the lip or something else that you are finding?

my bad :? :? I had Falken Tire stuck in my head. Forgot it was 5 Zigen I was looking for.

Edit: Now looking at the right site I dont see a +35 offset listed on the site . If those are true 18x7.5 with a 5x100 bolt pattern you might get a +48 offset

check on the inner spokes to check if they are 5zigens or not, If you dont see anything on there, may be knock offs, as for the style, its custom because i can find that style anywhere.....in us or japan......

***UPDATE***

I emailed the seller about the rims, and this is what he said:

> Hi:
> I was wondering if the rims are original 5Zigen wheels. The reason I am asking
> is that I have never seen this style of FN01R-C with a polished lip before. Are
> they JDM replicas?

Response:

These are 5-zigen wheels made in japan all this information is molded on the back of the wheels during the
casting and yes you've never seen this hook up before because its custom. they are the Real Deal!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess i'll be able to see when I get them.

Ok here is the scoop.

From the factory--5zigen does not sell any FNo1r-c wheels with a polished lip. What he meant when he said "yO thEsE aRe A cUsToM bEat HooK" or whatever, is that they are original graphite/titanium color and a chromed lip. So either he did this at his own home with paints, or had a shop powder coat the face and strip the lip/chrome the lip for the look you see now.

And yes, these are relatively light weight wheels, although not as light as the FNo1R models, (notice the lack of C for Cast).

When you get them in, and if they look like complete ____, then it's time to worry...as of right now, just hope for the best "custom" job he could have done.

It seems you are correct JDMxB. I emailed 5zigenusa and here's what they said:

5Zigen wheels have the 5Zigen name cast into the back of the wheel; for
your information, the FN01R-C was never available in a "graphite" color with
a polished lip.

Regards,
Alex Chang

Hopefully the wheels are not f'ed up. :?

I've seen lots of "1 time" specials for wheel manufacturers here in Hawaii. I've seen some SSR Integrals in SBC and SMC coatings that were only produced ONCE. Some guy had the bucks and the luck to see em, convince the shop to sell em, and he's got one off wheels. Same with some SSR professors. I'm guessing 5Zigen does it too.

Looks like they're coming in original boxes so if they're marked graphite/polished, thats what they are. They may not be US spec 5zigen wheels so if you spoke to 5zigen USA, they might not be aware.... or these could be grey market products made "on the side" by the factory that makes these for 5zigen.....
