If you think about hitting a pothole with 18's your screwed!
hmm ic ic, my brother recommended that i get a smaller rims size so that i wouldnt have to change my tires all the times and by smaller rims he means from an 18 i would go down to a 17 inch maybe 215/40/17, and im not really into performance, i just dont wanna be constantly think that i may bend my rims at any given moment. I mean from a 18 to a 17 is there really a huge amount of difference in how often i change tires, and how careful and wouldnt i still be worried to the same amoung of degree going over potholes on 17's?
i have 18's for my box, but i havent put them on yet. How worried do you have to be with 18's and hit a little bump and a pot hole? Would i have enough cushin with 225/40/18 tire to go over a little bump or pothole and have to worry to much about cracking my rims or anything like that.
Thanks
Thanks
Your rims size really doesn't have anything to do with how often you'll need tires. You have 4 factors you need to look at when buying tires:
1)Treadwear
2)Traction rating
3)Temp rating
4)Your driving
The higher the treadwear the better off you are as far as tires not wearing out quickly.
The higher the traction the better the tire will handle at higher speeds.
The higher the temp the better the tire will disperse heat
The biggest thing here is your driving style. If you're one of the guys trying to take every corner as fast as you can or are a very agressive driver you're gonna wear out tires out faster then the "granny" driver. Here's a link that explains this indepth.

no one has taken into consideration the width of the wheels....i'm sure a 7.5" wheel will fit, but what about 9", also the offset, 15 offset, may have a few issues, but like a 35 offset, you'll be fine. also, tire size does matter, i think the most commonly run tires here are 215/35/18
