Okay, so I'm pretty set on the wheels I want, 006's. I want them in 17x7 front and rear with a 35 offset.

I was wondering what would be the best size tire for these, and if this would rub or anything. I am dropped on S Techs.

now, you know that offset/width will put the edge of the rim about 30mm from the fender in the rear, and about 20mm from the front fender, right?

They will be sucked in right?

Thats what I want, not a fan of the pushed out look.

Dont the OTG Spacers push the rear out, or should I just order two in 17x7 and two in 17x7.5 or something?

the OTG shims are great because they equalize the mounting points front/rear. the rear mounting points are about 10mm 'sucked in' than the fronts. they are great for ppl who don't want to go for staggered fitment, like two front wheels that are diff than the rear.

you guys do know that 215/45/17 is oversized right?

you want 205/45/17 or 215/40/17.

actually the 215/45/17 is correct. why they put on 185/60/15 for the us version of our cars is beyond me. i run 185/65/15 tires for winter and they are dead on for speed i've check against many a speed sign. so your actually closer with the 215/45/17

actually, i think hotbox is right, and i stand corrected. I was looking for the profile, and glazed over the width.

{width}/{sidewall}/{diameter}

and for a 7", 215 WOULD be oversized, and 205 would be good. 215 on a 7" wheel would squish the tire and create some imaginary sidewall. sort of the opposite of stretching a tire, where you would go thinner with a bigger sidewall...

not really sure about the performance (cornering) properties of an squashed tire, tho. i would go 205 if i were looking at 7s.

215 is not too wide for a 7 inch.

215's can use as small as 7 inch and as wide as 8.5 as far as spec.



each and every car's speedo is off of one anothers.

my car is 215/40/17's with 17x7's up front and 17x9's in the rear.

even if the cars come with larger diameter tires in japan i'm willing to believe that even though they gave us smaller tires they also recalculated the speedo. IMO.

i know my speedo is correct.

cherrybox 205/40/17 is undersized no matter if you go by us spec tire size or jdm tire size

215/45/17, although oversized should work fine unless you slammed... I run 215/40/18 and these are considered oversized but I dont have any issues. I couldnt imagine running 35 series tire in Boston...

So I need 205/45/17 right?

Im guessing this wont be all bulgy and be more low profile, which is what I want.

205/45 or 215/40 are closest to stock tire diameter.

Alright well I just noticed that I could get 18's for only 20 bucks more so what issues will I face with 18x7.5's ?

Any rubbing or grinding issues? Best tire? Again I'm lowered on S Techs and they are settled to about a 2 inch drop.

Also, is ebay a safe place to pickup tires? I was looking at a set of Nankang 215/35/18 tires, would that work?
