I need help with spacers and offests
hi, so i bought wheels that have an offest 40mm for my XB 2004. The front ones do not fit so i need spacers. I believe i need atleast a 3mm spacers because the offest has to be below 38mm. So i was looking to get a 5mm h&r spacer, but im not sure if i need a bolt or stud. Also do i have to purchase extended wheel studs seperatly and where can i get these?
Thanks so much!

Hmm. It should fit fine. It might be hanging on the caliper, but otherwise, there's no reason it wouldn't work. With the car in the air, can you tell where it's hanging?
If it's hitting the caliper, you can probably put a 5mm spacer up front (that's as far as you can safely go without extending the studs).
Pics?

Get spacers with the right center bore. You're posting them for a Jetta.

why in the world did you go with a 15x7 +40,
your stock wheels are 15x6.5 +38.
#1 you should have done some reserch befor buying a set of wheels, thats what thease forums are for, get on here and look, ask questions. we will help stear you in the right direction.
in my opinion you sould get different wheels and get rid of the ones you just got, you might have to take a loss, oh well, live and learn.
go with something like a (if you want to stay with a 15) 15x8 +15 of jump up to a 16x8 +15
i bet you could sell what you have now for enough to buy another set of better wheels.
like this, this would only run you $337, and you would have no problem with thease at all

yeah i know.
im just not a fan of wheel spacers because of the problems that can happen.
in fact most mechanic shops will refuse to work on you car if you have wheel spacers installed because of the liability issues.
it 10x better in the long run to just use wheels that fits better.
now i could understand if you hade a super rare set of wheels that were a must have and you just had to make them fit............... but he just got the wrong set of wheels.
its an easy thing to fix and hes not going to loose much $ at all by just getting a different size wheel

he would loose less $ by selling the ones he has now and buying a defferent set then it will caust for the spacers.
+ the front wheels already stick out farther than the back, i think it would end up not looking right
