Until too tight puts too much tension on the stud and you end up with a sheared stud. Trust me, I've been there, too. Torque specs exist for a reason. Make sure you know them and use them. And if you take your car to a shop, make sure they follow the same practice.

 

Success! When I was at work today, I thought about using the floor jack handle as a breaker bar. Then, I came home and read hayalex6's suggestion. I was finally able to loosen and retorque my lugnuts to spec. I was starting to worry, "is there something wrong with me, I can't even get the lugnuts off my car!"

 

Congrats man! I was thinkin that you might could use a plasma cutter and just take them right off.
