Default Need help with new wheel options!

let me start off by just saying; I know very little about wheels. OK? So don't crucify me if I ask some stupid questions. Just trying to learn as I go.

So, I'm currently running
19x8" Boze Forged wheels with Nitto Neo-Gen (215-35-19) and KSport coilovers.

I bought the car with this setup. I'm a young guy and my back just isnt agreeing with this setup anymore. I feel like I'm gonna be in a wheelchair by the time I hit 30. (yes, that's an exageration)

My initial interest is to move down to some 17's. So I've been considering the Drag DR-19's in black.

I understand that going down in size will give me more rubber and should help the ride be a bit smoother, but what else about a wheel can effect the ride?

And for your opinions; how much (if any) will this wheel help my ride comfort?

Also, any other suggestions you guys may have to get a smoother ride are greatly appriciated. But keep in mind, I'm not made of money, so I'm not looking to spend $3K on this change

here's some pics for you curious folks:

Sell the K-Sports. That will give you the biggest improvement. Thin rubber is one thing, but you have some of the stiffest coilovers out there. You can sell those, and get some shocks/struts with some softer springs and greatly improve the ride.

Obviously, if that doesn't do it, get new wheels, but I really think a suspension adjustment will be more significant.
You have a 35 series right now, in order to keep the overall diameter of the stock wheel setup, you'd want a 40 series on a 17, that's not a huge sidewall difference.

wow, 19's on a 1st Gen box is too much, although im really diggin the looks of your setup!

definitely change the coilovers for a spring/shock combo and you will feel a world of difference, the thin rubber wont make a world of difference!

also, the ksports being soo stiff are acctually helping you buy not allowing your wheels to rub all over the place, with shock/spring combo you might be rubbing bloody murder all over the place, but what do i know, i dont have a box, lol

and lastly, in my book, the drag wheels are a downstep to any forged wheels, at least go with something nicer then drag wheels!

go with the Drag... i like the black/orange-ish contrast... a buddy of mine used to have 19"s on his 1st gen xB, he loved the look but it just wasn't practical (stiff ride and occasional rubbing)

what do you guys recommend for a new suspension setup. I've been told the ksports are a stiff ride. But they're all I know, so wasnt sure if it was worth trying other companies.

I want to keep the car low. Stock height doesnt look right to me. Too trucky. How can I keep the car low, but have it ride nicer?

Hit me with some ideas!

Thanks to everyone for the input, it's been very helpful already.

Buy some Monroes and some DF210s. The ride is quite nice.
Here's what you'd be looking at with that setup and 17s.

i x2 on what chico said, but what you are comfortable spending will depict what you can get. i'd post up a "for trade or FT" thread (if you qualify) to see if someone wants to trade rims if you really don't want the rims.

Tanabe DF210s for sure. You get the stock ride softness with the lowered look. The monroes are great for a comfortable ride. If you need a slighty more sporty feel than stock, you should check into Koni Yellow Sports. Monroes if you need to stay on the cheap.

ps - everyone throw out your options of best suspension setup while still keeping the car low. Shock/Struts/Springs/Wheels/WHATEVER.

Let me know what you guys are thinking!

Go check my profile to get an idea of what I'm running. The only additional item in my suspension I haven't yet installed is 10mm hub spacers in the back.

Right now, I'm running my konis full stiff and rolling steelies for a trip I'm taking this weekend.

As for the NF210s, they are okay... but the coil rate on the NF are not progressive. You have a different ride/handling with static rated springs.

DF210s are awsome, I run em for a month and I think they'r the best bang for the buck, they get u much lower, they'r very good for handling, and they'r not harsh. I switched to coilovers to get just a tad bit more drop, and it's big difference, rid is much much more harsher. If u don't need to go very very low switch to springs first. u'll have some money leftover from coils which u can invest in better shocks, better wheels or just put in the bank.

For the price, im kinda stuck on the DR19's. Solid looking wheel for about $100 a pop.

You need to be listed as an SL Member first. Which is a min of 50 posts and been signed up for at least 14 days. You have the latter part covered... but not the 50 posts. Though I would seriously advise to NOT go around spamming random threads with nonsense to get your 50 posts. We don't take too kindly to that... and it DOES happen.
